Hi all Iv been needing to use inhaler abit more frequent this week and have noticed when I take my symbicort inhaler the dial on the top indicates im only taking in 90 rather than the usual 120. Does this indicate worsening in SOB I have been very anxious this week not sure if that would cause it. Thanks in advance

Ps I'm undiagnosed at the mo

I think it is the weather as that will make you needing it more and breathless

Hi

Is the dial not the dose counter?

Starts at 120 doses, and reduces each time you use ending in 0 zero.

I'm not sure it usually reads 120 after Iv taken it and then stays there until i use it again but it's only reading to 90 now when I take it, sorry I'm new to it but feel like I'm not able to inhale as well. Sorry if I sound stupid (i am)

I take symbicort and unless the design of the inhaler has changed, it is just as Stone says above - the indicator is to show how many doses are left so you know when to start a new inhaler.

Your anxiety could well be causing more sob, but its also autumn and there are a lot of tree moulds around at this time, that could do it too.

Oh do you mean that's how many is left as in until the inhaler is empty?

Not a total idiot at all, it should have been explained to you when you were given the inhaler. Have you still got the instruction leaflet that came in the box?

A friend of mine was given Ventolin and had no idea how to take the inhaler, she tried to breathe in and the spray just hit the back of her throat and she coughed .

How often are you using the Symbicort, if you are finding it difficult to breathe in ,I suggest a phone call to your Health centre and maybe you can chat to a nurse or GP.

You can use a spacer device with some inhalers which makes it easier to take.

Take care

Hi

I have a feeling you are not using the correct procedure,

Have a look at this video.

Symbicort is to be replaced with Duorespspiromax. The new inhaler needs no priming before use. you simply open the cap and it is ready to use. Start mine next week. Take care all. x
