Hmm, hi pugs 4love, I get swollen feet every now and again , was told that when I'me puffing away badly, , it can cause the heart to work harder , but I 've yet to hear how it actually causes fluid to pile up in the legs or feet / ankles , - the other end of the body ! - I take those " Water" pills - but watch out - you find your dashing to the loo to get shot of this water every ten minuets ! - it works, but be sure not to go out if you are taking these pills for at least six hours, = " furosemide " - you can find your needing to go to the loo in some very unfortunate places ! .. not so bad for us blokes - for obvious reasons - , but for the ladies - oh dear !!! - good luck ! ...

Do you have emphasima? If so I assume you are on Prendisone, this 100% affects your blood sugar. It rises quite high. Your body retains water and you get soloed feel/legs. I get it a lot I have now cut the Prednisone down from 3 X 2 per day to now 1 per day for seven days. I will never go on these steroids again. Ask your Doc for other stuff.

I have this walking round with a bucket but glad to be relieved of the water. It has taken 3 yrs to get treatment when acute. Was told lipo- lymhoedema with no treatment available unless a secondary of cancer.

Now found that it was unusual form of pulmonary hypertension even though tests before did not show.Would the Macmillan Nurse running the service on a remit have known this?

Oh dear - I too have never heard of swollen feet being related to shortness of breath ! - the other end of the body ! -- yes, its ok for us blokes - " any Port in a storm " as they say - but for the ladies - most unfortunate ! ...I too have on odd occasions had swollen ankles ,but the Doc put it down to very hot weather in Italy, and too tight shoes ! ...yes, that drug " Furosemide " is a killer at times ....I clean forgot on one occasion , I had taken a couple , and went out , oh dear - its amazing how we blokes can " Disguise " - " Taking a leak " !!! , I was fortunate to find various buildings I could ease my " Fullness " ! , before I staggered home to the heavenly bathroom !!! ...such a relief !...

Lack of oxygen in the extremities? x

Swollen ankles mean your heart is not beating strongly enough to pump away the liquid. They do get worse the shorter of breath you are.

I was given furosemide but couldn't stand it rushing to the loo all day. Dry mouth. Best solution I found is a combination of regular exercise and time spent with feet elevated above the head.

I have had Water Retention for many years, take Co-Frumal every day , with exception of days when have to go out any distance these occassions I take it at teatime. I have Angina and this is one of tablets given to release water which helps heart work bit better , also takes away swelling in limbs,

Get swollen ankles in heat but this year it's half way up my legs too and breathing really bad. Bee in hospital for 10 days and they have found my leaky valve is more severe. So heart is working harder hence SOB and swelling. Have increased my furosemide and now dashing to loo morning and afternoon. I suppose it goes to ankles because of gravity

had swollen ankles every summer due to heat and heart problems, always go down on a morning. told by kidney team NOT to take more than one water tablet a day due to only having one kidney, gave one to daughter 30 years ago.

the last 6 months, with extreme heat, legs and ankles been up and not going down much. done everything asked including taking 4 water pills a day! now got to go into hospital Sunday to get it stabilized so they can do a catheter look at the heart again. NOT looking forward to the latter as last time it was excruciating!

Thyroid medication also caused feet swelling. Plus, intolerance to cold or heat depending on type you have (hypo or hyper)

I have had it for 2 year's now.its part of overworked respiratory symptoms making your breathing more likely to need all oxygen in that area.
