Lydney garden

We have recently moved to Lydney, this is part of my new garden, going to let it stay and look at replanting in the future . I feel so more relaxed here in the countryside, we look out onto a fishing lake and have a steam train only 5 mins away , still breathless, still off work but enjoying life it feels like a holiday ๐Ÿ˜„

I have too. My mother was born and bred near Lydney, in Bream . I have lots of happy memories of years gone by. My sister was born in Lydney hospital.

It looks great the way it is, to me. How exciting to move to a new house, in a new place. I'd probably have to be dug out of this house now as we've been here so long but a complete change sounds like such an adventure. Enjoy your new life and I hope your sob improves I. The country air.

Still SOB but just feel so relaxed , no more money issues as we downsized , less stress so let's hope it held in the long run ๐Ÿ˜„

We moved to Forest of Dean 4 months ago, from Lincoln. Loving it here with beautiful scenery and grandson just around the corner. Enjoy Lydney and trains! Pain about Severn Tunnel closure though.

All my father's family came from the Forest...been there for generations. On ITV last night they showed the damage that the wild boars were doing there.

It's a special place tucked in between Wales and the rest of England.

One of my husbands ancestors was married to a former vicar of Lydney....it's a small world.

Hi knitter

I have just been reading the local paper and they were discussing the wild boars, my son saw them a couple of months ago. We haven't seen any yet but I'm sure we will. I'm hoping to go on forest walks, may have to join a walking club !

I fell in the river at Lydney when I was about 5. Dad jumped in fully clothed to rescue me and his mate joined him in the water. After getting me out and handing me to my distraught mother, both men stripped off and put on swimming trunks at which point an old local man looked over the bridge and said, 'Nice day for it - I see thee got thee bathers on!' He was completely oblivious to all the wet clothes, distraught mum and soaking wet child screaming her head off! It's a story that's stayed in the family archives and gets trawled out whenever someone has 'their bathers' on - or when Lydney is mentioned!!!

Sorry but just had to share that little anecdote!

Your garden looks beautiful - very tranquil!

Hi moy, could have been one of my relations.....my grandfather always said thee, and ye and yonder.....he used to call me his little maid. The Forest has its own dialect ....I love the story of the bathers, I have not heard that word for a long time.

Hi moyB lovely to hear about Lydney , we had never heard of it before , just been into Bristol , came back and sat in my garden with tea cupcake and magazine , no sun , but quiet, warm and yes tranquil ๐Ÿ˜€

This is such a pretty corner of your garden. I am envious of your wall....it's a long time since I had a walled garden..........you will soon have it covered no doubt. Wishing you many happy years in your new home.

Hi Jennifer-S I'm hoping my mum will come over and help me pick the right plants , it's so private and can't wait to plan our garden. Hope to get at least 10 years of living well ๐Ÿ˜€

I'd be more optimistic than that if I were you, much more. It's a dream come true!
