Just wanted to say hi as I'm new to the group. I am a 44 year old ex-primary school teacher. I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease that consists of all sorts but my main problems are ILD, RA and PH.

Hello Angie, welcome to the site 😁 Any questions or concerns don't hesitate in asking because someone here or the nurses at BLF could have that info you're looking for and we are always glad to help if we can.huff x

Hello and good afternoon Angie,

A warm welcome from me too. I don't know what the initials mean but I do know what copd means and that is what I have. I don't think for one moment you will be stuck for help and advice on here, and I wish you well.

:-)

Hi

ILD - interstitial lung disease (pulmonary fibrosis)

RA - rheumatoid arthritis

PH - pulmonary hypertension

Sorry for the jargon.

Thankyou Angie - I should have looked it up on the right hand side of the page under abbreviations and links now I come to think about it...just laziness on my part.

How did you come to know you had PH? May I ask your symptoms?

Hey hey hi, just realized this entry is five years out… You said something a while back about your mum being taken to a Spokane hospital (hope she is doing well) but I thought hmm, I bet you’re in my neck of the woods.

I’m in Pullman, Wa. 🧐

It was just a very good respiratory consultant o had for my ILD wanted to check out possibilities of this - sent me for an echocardiogram which came back higher than normal so I was then sent for a right heart catheter to finalise diagnosis.

Hello Angie and good to meet you.

I'm 44 and was diagnosed with PH and Scleroderma just before Christmas and have had Raynauds for years. Before then I was working as an Exec PA but currently on long term sickness due to my health conditions. Would be happy to chat anytime. X

Hi Angie

I'm new too and I've got the same as you. There aren't many of us though. One thing, have you been told to take exercise , for the good of your lungs, but is that bad for your heart? And are you on steroids? I am, but I've put on a lot of weight, which of course also puts a strain on the heart. I'd be really interested to hear what you and the other nice people on this site suggest.

Thank you all for being so cheerful, (mostly). Something I find it hard to do.

Hi

I have done one course of pulmonary rehab which was good. I didn't lose weight but I do need to but it's not about that it's about making your heart and muscles stronger and more efficient. I recommend it if you can get on it. It is important to get advice on the exercise you can do as I'm sure just doing it on your own could be dangerous! I am on 7.5 mg prednisilone daily.

I am very positive and cheerful as I don't see any point in being anything else as it won't help 😊😊😊
