Hi Karnak - I've just replied to Nan about breathlessness in the post above. But if you've just had surgery there may be some specific way of breathing, or posture while breathing - Im surprised you weren't advised about this. You could look at what I've written but I imagine you need to treat your lungs very gently after the surgery. Why not call your GP or respiratory nurse (possibly better) and ask about this. Presumably this will improve since the whole point of a bullectomy is to create more room for your lungs to work better. I hope your healing goes well. :)

hi welcome to the group , its still very early days after the op I had it done 3 years ago I was coughing up gunk for several weeks after , did you have it done key hole ? , I think with the sob you have to change how you do things for example if you hang washing out put your basket of a stool or table so you don't have to keep bending down and up , also try do things a little at a time then rest abit ,

I agree with the others Karnak, their replies are excellent.

I just want to remind you about time. After any hospital stay, it takes time to get back in your feet and especially after surgery. I usually have to go in to hospital for IV antibiotics and other treatments, once or twice a year. It takes me about three weeks to get over the weakness and breathlessness, every time. It's annoying because after treatment, you expect to be in fine fettle but that takes a little time.

l had the same 18 mths ago after pulmonary rehab l started going to the gym ,so now l go twice a week just to keep the bits moving and l have since found out that there is a group who carried on at the gym after Pulmonary rehab and they all had COPD . Start off gentle and work those lungs ,discuss your condition with the gym staff who will be well placed as to the best way to get the lungs working better.
