Hello lovely people. May God be with us all. I'm Annie, and like the film I have sadly recently become orphaned. Last week I lost my Father Lung cancer. He was 60 years old when he passed. R.i.p George :(

Welcome to the site. It is so hard losing a parent, especially to a beast of disease like Lung Cancer.

Thank you Azure_Sky, it has been a difficult time for our family. We lost our Mother at Christmas. My brothers and sisters are all squabbling over the will already and and the family is just falling apart. I want us to unite for the funeral but sadly I can't see that happening now. I joined this site looking for some strength and support to help me through.

Hi, welcome to the site. Do you have a lung disease or are you just looking for general support?

Hi OrphanAnnie Welcome to our forum.

I am so sorry to hear that your father has passed away and at such an early age. It sounds like you have been having a really bad year with losing your mother as well. You must be devastated having lost both parents in such a short space of time. I really feel for you.

Going through the trauma of losing a loved one is bad enough without family squabbling over the will. This should be a time when family come together and support each other but unfortunately that's families for you.

There are far more important things in life than anything to be gained from what's in a will. They will do whatever they want no matter what you say so you are most probably better off staying out of it and looking after yourself.

Hopefully they will see some sense before the funeral.

There is a great bunch of people on our forum and if you need support there is always someone about with a listening ear no matter what time of day or night it is.

You and your family will be in my thought and prayers. RIP George.

Regards. John

Hello Annie. I'm so sorry about your dad and mum. For the very reasons you have stated I have decided to leave nothing of value after my death, everything will be distributed or donated beforehand. Money is such a wrecker of families. I sincerely hope your family will honour the memory of your parents by at least being civil for the ceremony. Again, my deepest condolences.

Cas xx 🌷

So sorry, Annie. My two daughters, ages 42 and 46, just lost their dad, who was 67. It's not easy, but we all find out own special way of finding comfort. When my dad died, I had a hard time until I found a little secret place in my mind where a song WE'VE NEVER DANCED from the movie Made in Heaven is playing and he and I are dancing in the clouds. It gives me comfort. You will find your special place too, dear. Meanwhile, there are many others who can relate and have been there.

Hallo Annie. So sorry to hear you have just lost your father so soon after losing your mother. My mother died at Christmas (many years ago now) and that is the hardest time of all to lose a loved one. Sorry too about the family squabbles. At times like this the family should stick together and support each other.

Although my name is Ann I have often been called Annie.

Things do get better and I hope they will work out well for you all.

Love

Ann

This is definitely a time for families to stick together and be supportive of each other. There can be so much pettiness and infighting that families are damaged beyond repair, which is always a sad thing. I suppose it makes it harder that your mum is not there to take charge as at least that way there would be one person making decisions and giving the arrangements some cohesion. Try to be patient. I hope your relationship with your brothers and sisters survives intact and that the fallout does not impact too heavily on your own health issues.

So sorry about your dad Annie. Mine died very young but luckily mum is still going strong. I wish people wouldn't have expectations about relatives' wills. It's their money & possessions, to leave to who they like, & their wishes should be respected. If siblings feel another has been unfairly overlooked, then to avoid family tension they could rectify that by sharing their own inheritance.

Welcome to our site Annie. The lost of a parent is beyond difficult. You will go through many emotions. Their will be days you think you're better, and it will hit again. This process is normal, please let it work it's time. Because that my dear (time) is the only thing that takes it away a little. It will always be there, you just learn to cope a little better.

May God place his hands around your family and pull them close to each other during this difficult time and allow you all to see the bright side, that even during the most difficult times, you still have each other.

Please keep us updated on yourself my dear.
