I was thinking of getting a ceiling fan, I get so hot in bed summer or winter and someone said it would help with my breathing, which isn't to bad in bed thankfully. Would anyone recommend one.

Hi

They do tend to gather dust on the blades, I have a small humidifier and put this on low speed setting, it also takes the toxins out of the air unlike a ceiling fan that just circulates the air in the room. Using the humidifier you can notice the air quality is cooler and cleaner xx

Before you go and buy a ceiling fan make sure you can fix it to the jost of the ceiling if not get an eletration to have a look first yes they are good to have but you got to make sure they are fitted proper if they are not it will fech your ceiling down

Kimmy, from my own experience, I would recommend an upright fan, placed near your bed. I find being able to turn the fan on wheni'm sob, a huge help. Can't comment on a ceiling fan but I would think that having the draught of cool air directed at your face, would be better.

They can collect an awful lot of dust. I far prefer a free-standing fan that I can use, move and direct where I want it.

Hi Kimmy, I have a ceiling fan (3 speed) in a bedroom which is now my study and it works well and very quiet plus its up out the way. I also have a conventional fan which is fine but the best thing is an air-conditioning unit in my lounge which although slightly noisy has been a good investment even if our summers only last a few days.

Take care

I have one that sits on the floor. It is easily manuevered making it easy to take around when I do ironing etc. Good luck Kimmy. 😊

I have a ceiling fan, which is great for general cooling, but I also have a desk fan on my bedside table to blow air into my face - heavenly! The most effective fan, though, is an upright one which I use in my lounge. The ceiling fan was an Argos cheapie but it looks good and works well!

Yes..., I can recommend you get a ceiling fan and a fan on it's own stand as well that you can position anywhere you want in your room; I have both and they make these Georgia, USA summer nights quite a bit more bearable. For the next few days, we'll have days in the mid 90s (around 35 celsius) with low 70s at night and early, early morning; so fans of any kind are really godsends. The humidity is also something to be taken into account; everything taken together during the day can mount up to 106 degrees fahrenheit. I notice a couple of people have kevetched about the accumulation of dirt/dust on the blades; I use that as another excuse to exercise..., the same as mopping, raking leaves (instead of using a blower) and many other chores that I used to dread but now use constructively for my own benefit.

Also, I have small Ice packs measuring about 5x7 inches.....; they're awfully handy as well, if you can take the sudden cold on bare skin.

Be Prepared !!!

We won't have anything like those temperatures in England, but I'm hot all the time anyway and I know a small hand fan helps my breathing so I thought it would be good at night.
