I only know about FEV1 and yours looks pretty good. I'm 52 and moderate so based on that you would be mild, but as I said I'm no expert

Hi Dennis Your Fev1,FVC & their ratio is really good, within the normal range, as they say. And has been maintained for 12 years!

The issue you appear to have is some obstruction in the small airways which shows up in the FEF 25-75 & FEF 75 results, the mid & latter end of your blow (Forced Expiratory Flow).

What symptoms do you get? What inhalers are you on?

where  is   the  small  airways   by the  way?    and itn lloks  like  my numbers  have   declined   slowly  but  more  so   the  past  year..  my  o2sats  fluctuate   alot  also   like during the  day  they are  between  94%   and  98%  but  when im  laying  down  and  starting to  fall  asleep  i  reach over  and put  the pulse ox  on my  finger   and  they   are  down   between  89%   to  95%   until   i  take a deep breathe   or  cough  then  they go back up  to  97%

WELL  I  DONT  USE  ANY INHALERS  OR  ANY  MEDS YET..  my  ct scan  1 year ago   showed a  few  small  empphysema spots  in my upper  and upper  outer lungs...  i  constantly  have  to  clear  mucus  which  seems  to be  in my  upper throat  near  my adamas  apple.. i  feel  like  i have  to  take  deep  breathes  alot   sometimes  they feel  satisfying  and  sometimes  they  dont...  clear my  throat  of   crap  alot

It is my understanding that the average person produces about a litre of mucus a day and most is swallowed without even noticing it. If you are paying more attention you may feel it when you may not normally if your mind was on something else. I would also suspect that smoking may increase mucus production as part of the purpose of mucus is to clear foreign material from the lungs, but that is simply speculation on my part.

Looks like normal variance to me... you're lucky so far.. stop smoking NOW.

Airways start relatively large and keep branching to small where the alveoli (air sacs ) are. Smoking damages their integrity leading to emphysema.

Good luck.

Your doctor should be able to alleviate any worries you have about your readings. Most member on this site would give their right arm to be able to get the same readings you get. Never fear, if you give up smoking and do some exercising, you will be able to maintain a healthy lung function. Remember all body part deteriorate with age. Lungs are no different.

Hi Dennis. I wish I had your FEV1. I'm at something like 54. Take good care of yourself.
