Hi I am 37 years old I have children and I got told I had emphsmia when I was 33 I was young needed two lots off lung surgery but I worries now as there getting lot worse and don't know what to do

Hi I have emphysema/copd like titchy I was diagnosed 8 yrs ago and I'm now 46. I don't know enough about what has caused yours so best thing would be to speak to your gp and get referral to a consultant to find out I'm guessing, sorry couldn't be more helpful xx

Hi because of your young age were you tested for Alpha1 Deficiency?  This is a simple blood test.   This is genetic but is rare. 

If you are having problems then you need to go back to your doctors.  x

Good reply Bev.  A1A is rare but quite often the answer as to why younger people are diagnosed with emphysema.  Ask your doc for a blood test to confirm or rule it out Becky.

You need to see your doctor/consultant for further tests...

I have asthma and copd. ...and young children. ..I am a lot older then you but my concerns would  be about the same as yours.
