Fit Squad.

As a follow up to the pulmonary rehab course which finished last December, I went along to the local sports centre yesterday for a trial go at the weekly fitness class, it went well but there's not much time wasting goes on!!! The young lady instructor kept us busy for almost an hour. Although it was stressed that I could rest whenever I wanted to. I feel that it will be good for me and intend going along to the next one. All we can do is give it our best. Any other views from members? Best wishes to all.

I know it's difficult for some people, but the best thing you can do for your health is to keep moving. A walk a swim anything.    Well done to you. Take care x

Hi ,well done for not just doing the PR and forgetting about it ,,,,I first did PR in 2008. And I was then introduced to the gym instructors who worked out a follow up set of exersises for me ,and I've attended twice a week since then ,at my best I was even jogging for some of time I spent on the treadmill ,,,,sadly no longer ,,, but I still do my twice a week class ,I was managing 3 Kim on treadmill and 3 on bike ,and 1000 meters on rower all in under an hour ,,,,sadly since early December last year I've been quite poorly pneumonia and pleurisy,,,,,but I started back to the gym this week ,,,and I was amassed that I was able to do 2 Kim on the treadmill in 35 minutes ,,,, and 10 minutes in the hand bike thing ,

I've repeated the PR course several times over the years after long illnesses ,,,,so I've met many people with the same or simalar illnesses,,,,,but they don't carry on with the follow up exersise ,,, I firmly believe that if back in 2008 I had just done the course and not carried on exersising ,,  I wouldn't be here now ,   And I know all the exersise has helped me to cope with all the chest infections etc including septasyma in 2009 where I spent 10 days in Icu ,,,,,so we'll done for carrying on with your exersise  you won't regret it ,,,and as a bonus ,,,, we can lose a few pounds ,,   I wish you well and happy exersise

Jolly well done Nanmy1086 for all the effort you too have put into you ensuring you still keep as active as possible. Its not easy at times,I'm sure. Give yourself a pat on your back and long may you continue. Tatters is doing brilliantly too, so he's following your example. I've just started my first PR course but was sent home on session 2 as I was unwell with a chesty cold and immediately took my rescue meds ! Blooming typical. I was so disheartened but once I'm better, I can go straight back.

Slowly slowly ,,,,don't over do it ,,,,best wishes ,keep it up you won't regret it ,neither will your family ,,,I remember when I first started my aim was to be able to fly ,,,,abroad ,I always wanted to go to Australia ,sadly I never got there, but I did get to Majorca a few times,,,,,,its my oxygen levels that drop so drastically in an airplane,,,,I used to have to have inflight lung function tests done at hospital in a simulated aeroplane,,,,,( just a cupboard really) tests were simalar to the lung tests we normally do but with air as in an aeroplane ,,,I passed quite a few times so we used to go to Majorca 3 times a year ,,,( due to insurance cost and  suplymentary  oxygen was £200 ) sadly 5 years ago I repeatedly failed the test even with the oxygen ( I never have to have oxygen at home ) so I couldn't fly ,, so I gave up putting myself through all the tests  every time ,,,,,criuise is out as I'm afraid of water ,,,so it's lovely Cornwall etc for me now ,,,,if only we knew back then ,,,what we know now ,,,,,smoking doesn't just kill ,,,,,it puts a stop to the things we love to do ,,,,

Tatters, look at all the responses you have revievef. You can read that everybody thinks you ate doing a grand thing by being proactive about your exercises. Well done. It is so important to anybody who suffers an illness, even more so when the illnesses are chronic and not cureable but to a certain extent "helped" by rescue packs of medicines !!!!
