Just had a phone call to say I can go in for a 5 day assessment for lung transplant on 10th April! Feel strange, terrified, nervous, don't know what im supposed to feel. I know it's a good thing but now that it's here it's scary. Trying not to think about it is impossible. Don't know if I should read up about it. Any advise would be welcome. X

I would go with a open mind and only research if offered the opportunity. I'm a person who hates not being told the facts. But it is pointless researching until you know that it's a real option. Good luck in whatever you decide

Thanks, I will, the lady I spoke to said she would send me lots of information in the post so maybe that will help. Life eh

Yes but an opportunity to be tested is a good thing x I'm hoping to be put forward for the coils treatment for my severe emphysema so fingers crossed for good outcomes for both of us

Hi Southy,

Do your best to get on that list southy, if and when your offered the chance of getting on the list it will be time to give it very serious thought.

By the time you get to the end of the assessment you should have all the information you need to help you make that big decision and its one only you can make.

At least you'll be better informed to deal with it by then. 👍

Hi Southy.

I'm so pleased for you. I think you have to stay open minded and strong at the same time. I'm at Wythenshawe in April for my first consultation and my head is everywhere at the moment, so I know it must be worse for you. I would say about reading up about it, that you could misinterpret things and scare your self etc. If you wait the right people will be around you to ask your questions and get proper answers. Could I please ask if you don't mind, what happened in your first consultation. I would fully understand if you don't want to talk about it. Stay strong and believe in your own ability and the professional team at Wythenshawe. Good luck.

Hi, I agree with you about reading up on it, it's tempting though. My first consultation was the end of October last year. We seemed to be in the waiting room longer than in with the doc! It was just fine, doc had obviously read up on situation and so just asked how, when it started how I've been and how I am now. I had no test done, was just told vaguely their role and what some options were but obviously would have to wait to be assessed if accepted. To be honest it was nothing like what I thought it would be. X

That is good news, but a worrying time while you wait. You are bound to have mixed feelings during this time. Maybe reading up might distract your mind or it may just worry you more. What about doing something you like to do that relaxes you. Hope all goes well in April xx

Great news - after reading the info they have sent you, make a list of all the questions you still have for your appointment on 10th April. All very best wishes.

I sure can't offer any advice but certainly can understand your feelings. I wish you all the best in your assessment and your decision.
