Day 1 so far...

Ok, so a quick update...

Breakfast

Bowl of Porridge 40g, no milk, just water 150kcal

Lunch

Bowl of Tuna, 100g, 99kcal

80g Strawberries roughly 21 kcal

Snack

2 Apples roughly 140kcal

1.5l water throughout the day

No hunger or cravings.

Which led me to dinner, my wife made some curry. Diced chicken, curry sauce and some onion. I don't want to eat much carbs so I said no to the rice/nan bread. Which left me with just the chicken and curry sauce which per portion was probably around 150kcal! My fault for not planning ahead!

So thats quite a low amount of calories overall from the 1900.

Any ideas what I could have done along with the curry? I have enough room in my calorie intake to be adventurous at dinner as I don't use much allowance for breakfast and lunch.

Try cooking something like broccoli with ginger and garlic, tiny bit of oil and bit of water to stop it sticking.

Vary the seasoning of your food, and don't undereat, you will only end up giving up. I don't eat much meat so my curries are mainly vegetable, and padding with lentils, beans and barley is great and filling too.

Did you post in the wrong forum here Postman, I notice your first post was in the nhs weight loss, this is the lung forum, however you are quite welcome here as you can see :) I've lost 12 pounds since New Year :), walking 10.000 to 15,000 steps a day and dieting. My trick is filling the plate with beetroot, baby tomatoes, pickled onions, cucumber and low fat coleslaw, then adding a chicken breast or slices of ham or a piece of fish. Pasta or rice is a no no for me . Good luck :)

Never mind, it's interesting for us, plenty here overweight for various reasons.

Good for you, it's not necessary to fill up on carbs at supper time.

I will always have a stack of various lightly cooked green veg with my main meal, broccoli, green beans, sprouts, spinach often from the freezer. Bung them all in the steamer together.

Making food tasty is the key. Fresh herbs, ginger, garlic, lemon juice is great, you can get it in a handy bottle.

All the best. P

Veg, cauliflower is nice with curry, you could add a whole head. Ilove those long narrow red peppers too, just eat on their own. Or little earthy baby carrots are yummy too x

I was told on the PR course it is better for us with lung conditions to be a little over weight because when we get a chest infection we don't eat so the body starts to attack the muscle
