For over a week i have been very tired falling asleep alot just thought id over done it but yesterday i came down with a cold but sputum was still clear today i have got a really bad cough and the right side under my ribs hurt any advice please

Hi Lisa I saw that you are struggling this week too, I have just posted about my rubbish week. Although your sputum may be clear now if you are in midst of a sinus or chest infection it may turn yellow or green, and you will feel shattered. Because of my difficult asthma I am always given an emergency supply of Doxycycline antibiotic to take as soon as a sore throat/cough or cold strikes. If the pain under your ribs and cough does not improve I suggest call your doctors surgery first thing Monday or call 111 if you feel worse over weekend.
Thank you for reply my doctors wont give me emergency supply of antibiotics, have gradually got worse so have rang 111 and am now wating on a call back to see if i can get into emergency doctors as they wanted me to go to a&e but told them just need antibiotics and steriods.

Oh Lisa I am really glad that you have called 111, I hope they get an on call Dr to you asap, please don't hesitate to call for an ambulance if the wait is going to be long if your breathing is not good. I left it too long 3 weeks ago and found my oxygen stats were still sinking to 91/92 even after being nebulised by paramedics and had to go to resus with asthma. Please, please take care of yourself, I am willing you to get the antibiotics and steroids you badly need. My G.P has now red flagged my notes brittle asthma so I get a same day appointment and can have emergency antibiotics and Prednisolone at home. When you are well this might be something to ask your surgery to do. x

Ive been to out of hours doctors and they was very good it has not gone on my chest but they have given me a course of steriods and said if i dont feel any better or get worse i can go straight back thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

Hi Lisa so glad to hear you have been seen by a doctor and you have the steroids you need. Keep warm, out of this awful windy weather (I have not been out all day) and try to drink lots of fluids and keep your Vit C levels up and rest, rest, rest. I will check in with you tomorrow to see how you are doing, take care. x
Good morning Lisa, I hope you are feeling better this morning after taking the steroids you needed and that you managed to get some sleep (I know on Pred that is easier said than done!) I do think your G.P should give you an emergency pack like mine, Dr's know we don't take them like smarties for no reason and if you are like me you just KNOW when you coming down with the dreaded lurgie. Having some antibiotics and steroids at home avoids us having to sit in germ filled surgeries to only be given antibiotics and Pred anyway. I hope some sunnier weather today will lift your spirits, I feel a bit better today and will venture out later. Look after yourself, keep rested x
Hi meganoscar123, thank you so much for ur caring attitude towards me it is much appreciated, im feeling alot better this morning the cold like symtoms have calmed down abit now my nose is not so sore lol, didnt get much sleep but didnt really expect to so a nanna nap later i think, glad your feeling much better make sure you wrap up warm as its still very cold outside. Hi Lisa great to hear you are doing a little better...I love the sound of a nanna nap...wonderful just the ticket after a restless night on Pred! I hope you can have something nice to eat today like a warming bowl of soup or something comforting. Some Olbas oil on your pillow or hankie helps the blocked nose. Take care, talk soon x
Hi make sure you tell the hospital or emergency doctors that your GP has refused you a rescue pack! Once they get a stern letter you might find they change their mind. x
