Seretide - not always any use?

Anyone else wonder sometimes if Seretide contains NO active ingredient? Once again I have spent three weeks with seriously runny nose on a new capsule and then switched Seretide early - and lo, the mucus reduces. Am I right? Am I wrong?

I guess you're talking about the Disc shaped one with capsules of powder?

If so I'm also guessing you could have a dud pack. I would have bust it open to check the contents long ago!

I used to use the powdered one, I hated it. I could always feel the sticky sweet lactulose content on my throat.

Anyway, Seretide is a bronchodilator for your respiratory tract, to help keep your airways open in the lungs. Not for nasal problems, I'd suggest that was purely coincidental.

Perhaps someone will say I'm wrong, I'd be happy to be corrected.

Its the evohaler and cannot be opened - anyway the active ingredient is part of a package of stuff so checking for content doesn't really help. Yes its a bronchodilator but if the aveoli contract the immune system kicks in and produces mucus. Result stuff!? ;-) But thanks anyway.

Switch to determine 250 inhaler as I found the 500 powder got stuck in my due excessive Lucas. I take two puffs of the 250 twice a day. Seems to work for me

Hi, Seretide 250mg, 2 puffs used twice daily has been just right for me. I also use ventolin if breathless, but am happy with Seretide after 6 weeks - it took some time for it to work properly. 😀😀

Maybe it needs more time?

Thanks for that - been on it 5 years. Just switched capsules (70 left in old one) and am better. So suspect faulty product - second time.

I found Seretide absolutely useless. GP replaced it with Symbicort 400/12 and I feel great. Rog.

Thanks for that - I will discuss with my GP.

Have on Seretide for Bronchiectasis for a number of years and seems ok. But have always assumed the constant rhinitis in one nostril was just something I had to live with.

Thanks - have you tried an anti-histamine for the rhinitis?

Thanks Timberman, yes I have in the past but they tend to have a drowsy effect so rather than take yet another chemical I just live with it. Sometimes a nasel douche helps.

Some heart tablets reduce the effectiveness of seretide. Mine did I was told and they were changed but the new ones made me very ill so they took me off them and doubled my other heart tablet.

Be Well
