My father was allergic to cats and yes it made him ill at the time. mum had 12 of them. sadly that was many years ago. Cats can make people ill and you were right to rehome them. xx Chin up lass, be positive, don't let folk get you down, life is just too short. x

Hi, you were absolutely right by rehoming your cat. Your health must come first although it might be a distressing thing to do.

Many people have allergic reactions to animal fur which can affect your breathing. What your specialist told you was correct.

Please don't let an unkind remark from a neighbour cause you so much anguish.

This person had no right to question your motives of moving your cat to a new home.

You know what's best for your health, it's your decision what you do, nobody elses.

Hope it all works out for you.

Merry Christmas & a Happy Healthy New Year 🎄🎅🏻🎁🎈🎉

You do not have to explain yourself to neighbours or anyone else about the choices you make..

I had to re-home my gorgeous little dog who i had for 6 years and who slept on my bed every night....i cried for months and a whole year later i still miss him...if i could have given him the care he needed i would have kept him but i couldn't.....its hard enough to make a choice like that without someone trying to make you feel guilty ,, im sure your specialist knows more than your neighbour

Please don't be upset...so many people are allergic to cats...I'm not...but I'm allergic to most perfumes and practically all kinds of cleaning stuff. Don't be worrying about the neighbour...your Doctor and Consultant are the ones to take notice of...not her!

Hi your neighbour is either stupid or a fool! She obviously thinks she knows better than your specialist. She is not worth bothering over so just ignore her. You did the right thing. x

Two of my daughters are allergic to cats....one of them gets very ill even after a short exposure.

Your neighbour obviously does not understand how life changing an allergy can be

Like many people she is probably ignorant of the effect pets can have on respiratory problems. You could print something like this off nhs.uk/Livewell/Allergies/P... (or look at Asthma UK or Allergy UK) & stick it through her door. If she still doesn't get it, just ignore the stupid woman

Please please do not be upset. You did the right thing and your neighbour probably does not have breathing problems.

Hold your head up high and don't move.

Wishing you well. Xxx

So sorry you are allergic to your cat; it's sad enough making the responsible decision to rehome your pet without stupid and thoughtless people thinking they know more about chest disease than Consultants and doctors. You did the right thing & do you know what, even if you hadn't it is your life and only you have the right to make decisions for it. Love Margaret x

So sorry to hear about that nasty thoughtless neighbour upsetting you. What a mean spirited unkind person. You are better off without people like her in your life.

Hold your head up high and ignore her completely.

Sounds like a good person not to speak to. Of course there are strong allergies to cats. Not only is she ignorant, she is arrogant about it.

I am sure that you are broken hearted enough without the neighbour's judgmental behaviour. I have a cat myself and am lucky am not allergic. Hopefully your cat will find a good home.

Please don't feel bad.

Have a happy and healthy 2016

Well I have usually heard cats are very therapeutic, calming, relaxing, stress relieving,,,,, to say it is making you ill,,must be a serious thing to say,,, why was it making you ill???

too much fur? getting on your chest? Your neighbour sounds very upset,,,maybe she would have liked your cat,,problem being it would have kept coming home to you,,,,

send her a nice toy cat,,,try to make peace, with her,,

Did the specialist tell you what about the cat was making you ill,? ask and see what answer you get,,,,maybe the specialist is not a cat person??? it is so upsetting for you to have to give up your precious cat,,

Don't move stay,,,,, you are not in the wrong,,,you only did what your doctor told you to do,,even if they were wrong,,,,,

Becraftygirl Hi,what has it got to do with anybody else? It,s your Life which has to be more important than a cats.I have two cats but would re-home them if they adversely affected my health. All the best D.

You poor thing. Your neighbour is either ignorant, stupid or both. Do as all the other replies (bar one I helpful one) and hold your head up. You would feel bad enough having to give up your out without having to deal with horrible neighbours. It's none of their business, don't tell them private stuff in future will you.

All the best and well done for putting your health first. P xxx
