Turmeric update

Hi All,

I wrote yesterday that after 3 days on Turmeric i was able to get out of bed without my normal back pain, unfortunately it was back to square 1 this morning. Woke up about 2 hours ago, 5am, needed to go to the loo and was rooted to my bed. I could not move. For the next 5 minutes or so i slowly slid myself towards the edge of the bed, got my feet on the floor and then my girlfriend slowly helped me to sit up. I was in agony.

Maybe i need a new mattress?

Good news is that the inflammation in my feet/ankles has reduced again a little bit more, so i will be sticking with my Turmeric.

Hope your back improves soon, Merv. With your info about turmeric, I'll be making a few more curries and colouring my rice with the spice - just bought a big bag.

A big bag - will it reach its use by date? I wonder whether to put some in the freezer. X

Spices usually have a best before date - it's okay to use them after that.

Don't forget you need to add black pepper. 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric with 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper...twice a day.

Do you take that in hot water? Think I will get my other half to try that. Had heard about turmeric before.

Thanks

I add it to my fruit/veg smoothie in the morning, i make extra so have another glass in the afternoon.

It's very, very good for you, but you must remember to add ground black pepper.

You really should change a mattress every 10 years. So maybe a new mattress would be good. We find a Sealy posturepaedic mattress is best for my other half. He has chronic back and neck problems from 30 years of being a parachute jumping instructor. The Sealy mattresses are a little more expensive but worth it. We also find the mattress in Premier Inn are good too so we always stay in one when we can. You can find them either by searching for Premier Inn Mattress or look on the Hypnos beds site. Think those are even more expensive. Good news is that travel lodge now have these same mattresses too.

Hi Sian

I am in Thailand so not easy to find a good mattress, i did buy a very good one...very expensive ( about 600 pounds)...when i first came here, but that was over 18 years ago. Found recently that you are supposed to change every 8-10 years.

My girlfriend was telling me today that some nights i am twisted in my sleep i.e. top half of my body is lying one way bottom half the other way.

Going to block myself in with pillows tonight see if that does the trick, if not then it will have to be a new mattress.

Hi Sian

By the way my sons used to be jump instructors, jumping up to 10 times a day then on their day off doing base jumps from bridges, hotels, aerial masts...all kinds of crazy stuff.

They started their own business, unrelated, about 4 years ago so they did not jump as much, mostly holidays as they belonged to a freefall team.

My youngest gave up jumping when he got married nearly 2 years ago, but my eldest still does it occasionally. He jumped from the top of Kilimanjaro a year last January in a bird suit but has since packed it in as too many people killed.

Have you consulted your GP about your back pain. When I have an attack with mine I freeze up when asleep but in agony when I wake up and it can take up to 2 hours to get out of bed. In that event I am prescribed muscle relaxants which make a huge difference. Some can reduce oxygen levels. Get the help you need . hope you improve soon. Joyce

Sorry about the pain Swerv, very disappointing. But glad to hear you're carrying on the with turmeric as it seems to be helping for your feet. Since its an anti-inflammatory its probably doing all kinds of good things for your whole body. Take it easy.

Hi tee,

Good to hear it is working, it really is amazing stuff.

Merv

Must just say we got a new mattress a couple of years ago and what a fantastic wonderful difference. I actually sleep at night - no back pain. Hope it works for you xxx

I need to start having a look around for a good mattress as mine is over 18 years old.

Ours was !!! We ended up getting a mixture of spring and foam - made a big difference. The only problem is the choice and the cost! Some of them are just ridiculous - thank god for the internet. xxx
