Hi Foxy05,

From my experience it pays to make a few phone calls and not just sit and wait. The NHS is pretty amazing but this is one area where things could be improved.

Welcome foxy05, it is rotten having to wait, the government guidelines are 18 week pathway. I can't believe 18 weeks is government guide lines our hospital works to their own deadlines which for new referrals usually happens in about 6 weeks, a few specialities are longer but not a lot. Have you tried asking the GP to refer you via the choose and book system ? you can then choose which of the hospitals near you that has the shortest wait. good luck

Hi it's all being done by choose & book but no appointments. Doctors have phoned twice to get me seen sooner. Having to wait for appt in post. Trying my 3rd inhaler. I'm a fighter. I'll get there thank you.

Hi foxy05

sorry you are having this wait to see consultant. Are you meanwhile doing all you can to improve things? Hopefully you are exercising, eating well, drinking lots, staying away from people with infections. I assume you have some meds from your doc/respiratory nurse? Is your cough productive? Have you sent a sample in to see if you need antibiotics? Sorry - you may already be on antibiotics but you didn't say.

I agree with others, keep plugging away to get an appointment. I have been told in the past to keep ringing because they often get cancellations and you may be lucky enough to grab one.

Hello, welcome Foxy, I recently read that pineapples have something in them that stops a cough! Might be worth a try 😁
