He's wrecked his car and suffered a whiplash...not Himself...Reuben.
And it couldn't have happened to anyone else...you see Reuben is a bit of a hypochondriac...he had a lumpy thing on the sole of his foot when he was here a week ago...he'd seen the Doctor who'd told him it was something I can't pronounce, never mind spell, but he was rooting about in the kitchen cupboards looking for Cider Vinegar...I didn't have any...only White Wine vinegar and apparently that wouldn't do, it had to be Cider vinegar...to soak his foot in.
We all sort of yelled in unison that we'd not be sitting here while he has his foot in a bowl of vinegar, so he could forget that idea...he bought a fancy bandage, which was actually an ankle support, made a big show of taking his sock off and putting the bandage thing on then grumbled because it didn't help the lumpy bit...which it wouldn't, seeing as how it was intended for ankles and not lumpy bits on soles of feets.
He won't eat butter you know...'cos of getting high blood pressure...so he slathers bits of bread with Hellman's mayonnaise instead and eats cheese on toast for breakfast...he cooks it in the microwave and it melts everywhere.
Anyway...some eejit crashed into the back of his car last night and now he has one of those collars on and T says he's driving her quite demented what with lumpy feets and now a whiplash and a wrecked car...

Could Reuben have a ganglion? You can get them on feet as well as hands. The old remedy used to be to bang it with the Family Bible but I don't think Reuben would like that.
My 17 yr old granddaughter has a ganglion on her wrist. It's a lump under the skin which sticks out. She was referred to Addenbrooks for treatment. She's to wear a tight cast like thingy ( sorry don't know the correct name!) for a few weeks then goes back. If they can draw fluid from it, fine but if not they'll cut it out. Ouch!
I had a big Ganglion on my hand just above my wrist. The doctor told me about the Family Bible theory. There was no treatment offered then. It went away on it's own about a year later.
I too have an ex- son-in-Law like that, he's always"dying" of something or other. I'll never understand hypochondriacs, why they have a need to be ill all the time?? I, personally, am completely the other way, I say I'm ok even when I'm not 100%. I suppose they should be pitied in a way as they obviously want the attention, but it's very wearing for those around them. Very funny postal the same Vashti, I can imagine that you're grateful that he wasn't still staying with you when the "broken" neck happened? Your Daughter must be a saint to put up with him. Lol
Oh dear, poor Reuben! At least he really does have something to complain about now! Glad it wasn't too serious though. He will feel better soon enough.
Thanks for the laughter Vashti - intended or not. xxxx
