The nights are drawing in

I am dreading the winter, the days are quickly getting shorter. Lets hope this incredible warm weather continues. Here is my handsome boy staking claim to his scratchy post.

not sure about Scotland one of our dogs hate the thunder dread November coming up with the fireworks last year I just popped to loo came back she had got behind tv with all the wires wrapped round her

Oh dear, poor dog. Oscar hides behind sofa when thunder or fireworks, or strangely when one of my sisters came to visit, he was really antisocial with her, not like him at all, he must have sensed something I didn't!!

Very handsome boy Kerrieblue. Try not to worry too much and just do your best to keep well. Very mild at the moment so no need to put heating on which is good.

Thank you. I am cold blooded ( my hubby says I'm half reptile) the heating has never been turned off this summer!

It would be interesting to see how people cope with these darker days. Some have to cope with depression and other things. I do agree that our furry friends help. My cat Malcolm is a great character. So any hints for keeping cheerful!! X

I hate the winter and suffer from SAD. Last year was particularly bad for me and I was really depressed, probably aided by the fact that one of my much loved elderly cats died. I never thought it would end, but of course it did, helped enormously by admitting to it and the help this brought from my immediate family. I also arranged to do a CBT course via the phone through the NHS. They sent out worksheets and rang at the same time every two weeks. That did seem to help and gave some structure to the winter months.

This year I am armed and ready with new playthings for my cats, ( they always make me smile and I love to take photos of them) adult colouring books, nature books, lovely toiletries, ( Neals Yard smell devine and are very uplifting). We have bought extra lamps and salt tea lights and pretty things galore. I know bad times are coming, they always do in winter with lots more chest infections and dark nights and I so miss my garden and the colours. I don't understand how anyone doesn't get depressed in winter!!

I was talking to this guy in the Doctors the other day he was saying we are in for a real bad one because of the pressure and this happens every 4 or so years. I remember the last one my old man was working abroad he had a BMW at the time, it stood on the drive and up to the top of the wheels was snow.

Oh wow, what a cheery thought!!! We used to live in Yorkshire and had really deep snow every winter without fail. Not seen nearly as much of the dreaded white stuff since we moved to Scotland.

We moved back to Yorkshire 12 years ago and have only 2 or 3 winters like it used to be when I was a lad. I remember you could practically guarantee decent snow for a few weeks ah the joys of sledging .Don't miss the sore legs from welly rub though.☺
