Up-date on my son's AML treatment. He has now stated the next stage of Chemo which is 50% stronger than the last lot and they are now looking world wide for a donor. He is not doing so well with this one as the last. He is Vomiting a lot and food has lost all it's normal appeal (He loved his food)
He was moved last night while we were there to a single room as he will soon be neutropenic sepsis. He will be open to any infection that normally would not bother any of us. But strangely it is the bugs laying in his own stomach that will usually knock him down it appears.
Because of the treatment he will need to have any new blood he may need irradiated before being given it and will need to carry a card for the rest of his life stating this.

Its got to be heartbreaking ,watching him go through this. My thoughts are with you , Offcut. I watched my son with liver failure. Thank God, a donor came through. One day at a time , gets you there. Bless you...
The very worse thing is watching our kids go though it, so painful, but treatment needed, keeping you and your son and your family in mind and praying for a donor xxxx
So sorry to hear about your son. At least now that he is in a room on his own, hopefully he won't catch an infection. Hope he will be well enough to go home soon.
I'm so sorry to here of this offcut, it must be a real worry for you, its terrible to have to watch your own son like this, i feel for you not so much.
like the others i pray you get a doner asap.

Hi offcut, so sorry to hear about your son, a very difficult time for you all. I hope the treatment works for him, although it's unpleasant to say the least, but if it's the way forward then it will be worth it in the end. I hope and pray a donor will be found soon.

Is there nothing that will ease the vomiting, maybe someone out there was helped by something and can pass it on. the tv will help distract your son, am sure he is grateful for that. wishing you sll the strength to get through this difficult time. Love Iris x
They are giving a anti vomit drip. It seems one of the stomach injections is upsetting the system as it is forcing the white cells out so the chemo can kill them?
We are all supporting him it is just a waiting game. They have said that he should look at at least another 12 months of not being able to work. Which is a worry as he will not be paid after 6 months.
Two friends have both told me the chemo gets 'progressively worse' but the good news that they are both doing well now, so hopefully it will work for your son. Must be so so difficult for you - take care of yourself too and all best wishes. xx

It never rains but pours' I do wonder how healthy people would cope in a crisis I think when you have a long term medical condition you look at life differently.
