What A Lovely Daddy...!

Love is blind so they say...I read a news report about a bloke described by his 'fiancée' as a 'kind and loving Father to their child'...he was found dead after being beaten up.

He was H.I.V. positive and five years ago deliberately bit a policeman who then had a gruelling six month wait to see if he also had H.I.V....he had a police record a mile long, which included assault, drunkenness and selling drugs...the fiancée refused to allow him in her home because 'he could change when he had been drinking'...something she did right then...but she's weeping and wailing and gnashing her teeth because everyone is saying he was a total waste of space and quite forgetting how wonderful he was with their three year old.

Seems to me that the three year old has had a lucky escape...with a role model like that for a Daddy.

Hi Vashti yes I read that too today. What are they like, what a waster and no loss

To society. I am in Dublin and the crime reports in the papers here would make

Your hair stand on end.

Oh by the way do you ever listen to Paddy o Gorman ( with dog) reporting from

The court, he is usually on the Sean o Rourke morning Radio 10.00 - 12.00 , it's

Unbelievable some of the cases, revolving door would not be in it.

Hope kittens are good and not skiteing around the place too much.

Well Vashti, they say "Love is blind", and you only have to watch shows like Jeremy Kyle to see just how "blind" some women are! ....."Oh he's wonderful when he's not had a drink/been on the weed etc.," they say while sporting black eyes, missing teeth and shaking like a leaf.

What the hell is wrong with these people, do they really think that someone who treats them like that, really has any respect for them - let alone "love"??

At 18 II was in an abusive marriage for only 3 years, then I did a "runner, but not before I'd lost all but 2 of my bottom teeth."

Back in those days there was nowhere to run to....no women's refuge and the police weren't interested as it was called a "marital dispute" and you were expected to sort it out yourself. Nowadays, there's no excuse to stay with someone who treats you badly as there is a lot of help. I can only assume that this stupid woman has been beaten so often that her eyes are now permanently covered with "rose-coloured" glasses. God help the child if that's his role model.

Yes he surely was a waste of space BUT- he was somebody`s son, somebody`s brother and somebody`s daddy And they probably loved him. That`s the difference between unconditional and judgemental. I didn`t always like my boys but I always loved them and I`m grateful they grew up to be decent young men. But some people are just inadequate I suppose and I`m lucky not to have walked in their shoes. Keep well , Sheila x

In the 1960's I was black and blue, only to be told it was just a domestic dispute. He gave a policeman a black eye after one of his horrible escapades but no charges were brought.

I got away, thanks to a refuge, but what a lot of trauma I went through to get away. I have always kept an eye on my girls and been ready to pounce at any sign of abuse.
