I Can Do That...Perhaps Not...!

It's all very well taking the easy road practically all the time but occasionally I like to try something different...so I had a look at a video on YouTube for a patchwork pattern called Picket Fence...they all have names you see...for instance the last table runner I made is a pattern called Broken Dishes.

Anyway I found a demonstration and it ain't rocket science by any means...can do that I thought confidently...no problem.

Off down the garden path to my shed, where I was distracted by several wasps who simply followed me in as soon as I opened the door...whacked them and swore a bit...then found the fabric I wanted to use and away I went. It looked a bit odd so I thought I'd better go and have another look at the video...back to the cottage...back to YouTube...I'd cut it in the wrong place.

Back to the shed and had another go and it looked much better...but then I couldn't remember how many small blocks to make up a big block...off I went again, sighing heavily and wondering why my brain no longer absorbs new knowledge in the way it used to...

By the time I'd watched the relevant section of the video again I was bored...decided for this throw, I'd stick with what I know and tackle the Picket Fence another time...

Of course tramping up and down the garden to the shed is excellent exercise...especially when I'm carrying the ambulant oxygen and have various bits stuffed under my free arm which belong in the shed or don't belong in the shed as the case may be...sometimes I have to stop about half-way and have a bit of a rest mind you...but that's normally when I've reached the old apple tree so I can watch the birds in the branches...there were several tiny Garden Warblers today...though they don't so much warble as squeak...unless they only warble when no-one watching or listening.

Dear Vashti I now have this vision of you traipsing up and down the garden to the shed and you are not doing too badly I must say. Stick to what you know for now and enjoy making the throw.

Thinking of you and take care, Carole xxxxx

You will conquer this pattern, and it will keep your brain alert, you are not the type of person to give in. Can't wait to see the pattern once you get to grips with it.

I did try that once Vashti, but nothing so ambitious! I just cut out loads of patches and sewed them all together to make a duvet cover for my Daughter who was only about 10 years old at the time. She loved it and used to call it her "memory" cover as all the patches came from clothing and other items that had been used by us at some time or another. Good luck with it . XX
