Well that was easy and such a good idea at my age . Just set up a direct debit to pay my car tax. Now if I have to give up driving there will no waiting while I cash the excess tax in!

Hi Dorothy, Don't get any mobility because I get Attendance Allowance not DLA, didn't claim until I finished work at 67 even though I had COPD for 10 years before that but didn't know I could claim and earn! Keep smiling

Hi Carole. That's sad you just missed out on getting mobility they don't tell you these things . My late husband worked for the department but it was my consultant at the time who wanted to know why my husband had gone home ,I explained no parking places left he replied lots of parking for disabled told me to wait then nurse came out with form and a letter from him sent both off hey presto where I failed his intervention gave me full amount that was over 20 yrs ago but it was for my myasthenia gravis not copd

think there are a lot of people who miss out because they don't relies what they can claim ,funny how the government don't broad cast about them but you get all the adverts about tax returns on tv

Technology ? Is a wonderful thing ,direct debits make life so simple for me as it's so easy to forget things.

I don't pay road tax as I've got a blue badge

I also have a blue badge but I have to pay for my road tax

Ha ha good thinking Carole. You are not daft are you? I put everything on direct debit years ago mainly coz I kept forgetting to pay my bills and got too many red reminders! The only problem with dd is you have to have enough in your account to pay them otherwise they could bounce and you get charged an arm and a leg :O x

Hi Carole, you have encouraged me to do the same....my road tax reminder came yesterday....now there is no tax disk I tend to forget it's due and it comes as a bit of a shock!

I have been wondering about claiming the Attendance Alloeance too...I arranged it for my late parents...but my breathing problems are so variable. One day I can walk a short distance and another moving across the room leaves me breathless, I also have thin bones because of the steroids and have damaged my spine.

I will check on line to see if I qualify.

Thanks again for the post

I got Age UK to help me and was successful after 2 tries myself which were unsuccessful. You should fill it out as if it is one of your worst days. Keep smiling
