Peak Flow down and back on Antibiotics.

Went to the Docs today just to ask if they had had a letter from UHSM. They had not - but then it is only 2 weeks. Saw a new Doc (in training) so he did peak flow and listened to lungs and was surprised how wheezy I was and my peak flow down 100 points! So back on the oxytetracycline 2 tablets 4 times a day. doing my penultimate spit pot last thing this evening and then one tomorrow afternoon. so will delay starting the antibiotics until Wed morning.

Lovely afternoon we have doors and windows open at the moment to let the heat out but so cold Saturday night we had condensation along the bottom of the bedroom windows on Sunday morning. Not much warmer this morning either.

Hope everyone is well and happy? Busy again this week have now got something on for very day! I am off to have my shower now and work my self up to doing the spit pot - again.

Love and hugs to you all.

Sian

Trying to work out UHSM? Presumably University Hospital ....?

Sorry to hear about your dip in numbers and chest stuff. A few postings back I loved the predictive text that translated exacerbations into exasperations. I'm sure you guys with diseases that flare up with gunk and infections would approve. It must be truly exasperating. A little punning ditty anyone?

Take care, love and gentle, non-squeezy hugs.

Sorry the University Hospital of South Manchester - where the National Aspergillosis is. I had a longed for appointment there 2 weeks ago. - sorry Katinka.

Love the puns. Was listening to a repeat of a Radio 4 interview with Denis Norden this morning and he was talking about puns. This always reminds us of my other half's Dad who's father actually looked like Denis Norden - sorry that should be the other way around! Dad would make the most amazing and truly horrendous puns! No a friend of ours who I mentioned was just as good at puns telephoned us this evening - funny how things happen like that isn't it?

LOL :) That's almost as bad as 'great sh*t' written under someone's photo you're commenting on. That I is way too close to O on the keyboard.

hi Sian, sorry to hear you back on the AB's. I could not believe that my last sputum test came back OK!!!!!! I mean...... Ok that is blo**y marvellous. BUT it doesn't stop me coughing unfortunately :-) Had lovely couple of days here too. Can I just ask if you like gardening, because with the aspergilloma, ( which is in soil and dead leaves etc) I was advised to wear a dust mask when gardening. Just thought this might be helpful to you. Get well soon.

With Autumn here, we need to remember the falling leaves as well. Apparently walking through leaves on the ground is one of the ways that Aspergillis spores are thrown up and inhaled. This is something I will really miss doing this year.

Yes I used to love gardening but not doing any now. I used to do loads of pots and used to help trim hedges and trees. Didn't like that so much. Wanted to stop doing the pots years ago as it was taking so much time to water them and meant we had to find someone to look after them when we went away. The other half kept bringing them back up from the bottom of the garden. He never watered them though. We have two cyclamen in little pots on the wall near the door and a rescued peony and geranium too. Left him to water them this year so they are not looking too good. Maybe the cyclamen will grow come autumn but doubt it. I used to put pansies in them in Summer but not touching compost again. Must think of what we can do with the dead leaves in the garden? Probably best to get rid of them when they are dry?

Hi Sian,

Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. Btw, don't hold your breath for a letter from UHSM. They are great at what they do but not too great on correspondence with GP's. You may be ok though as it was your first appointment after all.

I am there tomorrow for tests and back next week to see both of my consultants at the joint asthma/aspergillosis clinic (another afternoon out lol😄).

Take care,

Hi Sian, love and hugs right back to you and get well soon. Glad you have some nice weather to enjoy at least. Take care. xxx

Yes, at the moment the weather is good. Feel OK solong as I don't do anything strenuous - like rush anywhere - like I had to do to get to the Docs yesterday - where on earth a huge car transporter was coming from down our dead end I will never know but had to follow it really slowly along the coast road with no opportunity to over take it until I was almost in town!

Unfortunately I am gong to a funeral this afternoon. I attended my first ever Breathe Easy Meeting in July and met Helen after corresponding on here for about 3 weeks and her husband, Mike. He had been in the Royal Air Force like my partner and my ex-husband and had served at the "local" RAF Station where i had worked. After meeting him and Helen for the first time in July I was looking forward to meeting him again at our next meeting in September - our annual trip, which I had to miss for a Docs appointment was in August so no meeting. Had thought about lots of people he may remember, but as you all know, Mike died suddenly just over 2 weeks ago and the funeral is today. So very sad and such a shock.

Just washed my inhalers this morning and realised I will not have an open one to take with me so my hand bag is even more bulbous than usual with a ventolin inhaler in it's box in there! Thank goodness I chose the larger black bag to take with me. It has taken me ages to whittle down everything from my usual "sack" to get in this bag anyway!

Thanks for the love and hugs really need them today.

Sian
