Molly Went To The Vet...

It was Molly's turn to go to the vet this afternoon for the first of her vaccinations...Suzy also shoved a worm pill down her throat.

Now she has a lovely record card with photographs of appealing small dogs and a rather cross looking fluffy cat on the cover...

Murphy's record card is plain and boring and intended for a dog...'cos he came from a home.

Molly has slightly inflamed lymph glands, which sounds unpleasant, but Suzy said not to worry about it...just means she might have had an infection that she's recovering from.

The surgery stank this afternoon of tom cat...some rescue people had been trapping feral cats in Sligo and had brought them in to be spayed, neutered and vaccinated...they have a tiny notch taken out of their ears, so if they are caught in another round-up, those doing the catching know that cat has already been done and can let it go immediately...

They get their ears cleaned out and any rotten teeth pulled...de-fleaed and de-loused then they go back to the area where they were caught...excellent system I think.

Molly was fine...she didn't seem to mind either the needle or the worm pill...the only time she looked worried was when a woman brought a cat in that yowled at the top of its voice...

I've found a place on-line which makes wire mesh to put over open windows...thank you to those of you who suggested it. Wouldn't have thought of that myself...

The mesh is a great idea,I have seen it on a couple of windows near us,and I have seen a cat sitting looking through it.

Ahhhh,I would be a bit upset that little Murphy has a plain record card, that's not right bless him.

I agree a great system for the feral cats,

Great system for feral cats Vashti. I wish they'd adopt that in other countries, I've stopped going to the med' places any more because it's too upsetting to see all the poor little things fighting to survive. It must be costing you an arm and a leg with all these vet's visits? Nice to know that both kitty's are doing better. XX

It's costing a small fortune to be honest...and they are not considered to be an expensive practice either...Molly has one more injection to come and another worming dose, then hopefully that'll be it until their yearly boosters.

And I can worm them myself now...Suzy was using a powerful 'kill everything stone dead' stuff...I can use Bob Martins next time...lol

The vets here charge a fortune just to walk through the door. I think there should be some cheaper alternatives for older folk, many of whom only have their pets for company. The PDSA are good but few and far between and travel costs to them would be as much again as going to a local vet! Good luck. XX

I would have said what you said the first time, and it makes more sense to me,or have I missed something😊

The first time I wrote it, it sounded as though older people only keep pets for the company ...which is fine, but what I meant was that sometimes, pets are the only company that they have.

Hope that makes sense? XX
