Hi can anyone help with a recommendation for travel insurance for COPD travellers. I have spent the last couple of evenings surfing the net looking for reasonable prices. Can't understand how price has over doubled in less than a year and original insurers now don't offer any insurance !!!!!

How old are you?

Has your conditon changed since you were last insured? (Medication/hosptalisaton?),

Have you made a claim in the past 5 years?

Just one overnight stay but a chest infection which took a couple of months to clear up but no we have had no claims ever

Have you tried FISH ? They specialise in all types of insurance for disabled people. Not always the cheapest at first sight, but often include many of the things that other companies charge as extras and that disabled folk would want as basics.

Hi deecymru, that sounds a normal pattern for COPD holiday insurance. I and my daughter are with allclear I found them on par with last years prices only a small increase. Good luck

I found 'All clear' to be quite good. They specialise in travel insurance with medical conditions.

Hi Deecymru, I too have problems when I was first diagnosed with Bronchiectatis. My usual insurer would insure me but at a premium of over £1000 pa for my husband and myself. I had been in and out of hospital that year. I looked at the Healthunlocked sheet of insurers and tried a few of them, no luck until I tried Abletotravel. They we not cheap, the first year annual premium came to over £800, however, because my hubby had just retired and we wanted to travel we took the policy. I am now much better, my condition is under control and my premiums are around £375 per annum. They are very helpful. Try them. Good luck Maximonkey

Thank you will give them a try. My hubby has had a number of chest infections this year and an overnight stay in hospital so that may be the reason for the high charges given they did the same to you guys. Take care and thanks again for the help
