One Thing After Another...!

It wasn't the best of days yesterday...I threw my glasses on the range and my Kindle has died.

Obviously I didn't intend to consign my reading glasses to the flames...not quite potty enough to do that...I had a handful of scraps of rubbish and just threw the entire lot in. Lucky that I have a spare pair but they're old and I find myself squinting...

The Kindle presented me with a blank screen...so I Googled and apparently they are like a computer...go into a sort of lock-down and have to be re-booted. You're supposed to keep your finger on the on/off button until it stays green...could take up to four minutes according your man doling out this advice...done that... it still isn't working.

That meant a visit to the town library, which has less books on its shelves than we do at home...bit of an exaggeration but you get the drift. I plodded round looking for something I hadn't read before...found a few likely books only to realise when we came home that I've read two of them already...

As if it wasn't enough to contend with, I have a horrible feeling I'm getting a cold, so I've been snorting First Defence and shall overdose tonight on hot lemon and honey...might even put a measure of Bushmills in it...just to be on the safe side you understand.

Oh poor you. So annoying when you do that can you get a new pair of the shelf or are they prescription.

Don't know what I'd do if my kindle broke down, sounds silly but I bought it for using in the camper van & I don't gave back up books.

I bet this is a silly idea but are you sure the battery's OK. Bit obviouse I know

Hope you can ward of the cold & get a good sleep. Best wishes Nan

Sometimes plugging it in to charge, even if it doesn't need it, can work.

Failing that there are some cheap ones on Amazon Warehouse Deals.

This is a tablet. available with different coloured cases.£33 The used ones are returns with a full warranty on all warehouse deals.

Sorry to hear of your problems Vashi, I think all of us dread those first twinges warning us that a cold maybe on the way, hope it clears up. I've had 6 weeks of heavy duty hayfever and have resigned myself to at least another month of a blocked up nose, streaming eyes and sinus pain.

Have you tried the kindle support button on Amazon.uk that's where I usually go to first and then panic if that's no use. It might mean a new one....can you get one as an early/late birthday present, early Christmas prezzie, essential piece of kitchen equipment that you cant do without or look so woebegone that hubby gets you a new one.

Cheers, Sue

Perhaps its time to get a new reader. If you get a KOBO you can download books from many sites and not be restricted to Amazon. I download mine from either KOBO or Waterstones with other book sites on occasion. I have a Sony Reader but I don't think they are available anymore.

Dear me Vashti, don't you just hate days like that. I hope that your cold does not develop at all, the Bushmills will help, and that you can get the Kindle up and working again. Maybe it is having an off day too.

Good luck with getting some more specs. I would be lost without mine - literally!

Have a better day today.

Love, Carole xxxx

Sorry about the kindle Vashti - I started off with a Nook, useless! A present from someone who never reads so didn't understand that we need special authors/titles. I like the sound of the KOBO Pedros, and will be looking into the pros & cons - see, that's the beauty of this site, we pick up info on everything not just our tedious complaints. So a new pair of specs Vashti and use my son's method on the kindle - give it a good bash! Edited to say + 1 to the Bushmills xx
