Well my 5 month with out a cig but finding it a bit hard going I have good days and bad days I have now been told by the docs I have got to take off a stone band goes my jelly baby's I have been having 2 pkts a day also a pkts of mints so what is left?

It's hard but you've done the hard bit now, when I stopped it was French fancies and Jaffa cakes I put a stone on in a few months, concentrate on one thing at a time that's what I did cigs then weight off, well done, xx

Hi well done for packing the fags in. Try replacing the sweets with fruit - that would be much healthier. Or try the free chewing gum. There are lots of less fattening choices. Good luck. x

Keep a bowl of grapes ,cherries, chopped apple ect, covered with lemon juice in the fridge and snack on that instead of the sweets, and drink lots of water.

It does work.

Hi Edtongue1, what is left you ask , one packet of jelly babies instead of two :) :) . Joking aside you are doing well with no cigs, so now to the weight lose a little at a time in five months you could quite easily lose a stone at just a pound of weight a week. Fruit does taste as good as sweets but less calories and lots of vitamins. cherry tomatoes , radishes, grapes all last longer and bananas make you feel fuller. I found fruit juice instead of tea or coffee stopped me craving biscuits and the like plus water fills you up if you need to loose weight and it has no calories. That is my experience, I gave up ten years ago but still have weight problems, can't resist food sadly and exercise is limited due to health problems besides COPD. So I wish you good luck with the weight control and stay none smoker evbery best wish.

Well done, you have done a great job, your reward; no more jelly babies, how rubbish is that? Hope you do as well with the weight loss as with the ciggies. 👼

Thanks every one for the replys I have thought about every thing I do eat a lot of fruit it is when I am out and driving or fishing I have now gone onto gum I have also taken up swimming ( to the bottom of the pool and back) I have just had 2 knee replacement so going is a bit funny when people look at you I have also taken up just today going to the gym so I hope things get better and I get that stone off ?

I am in the same boat as you ...just over 6 months without cigs and now tackling the weight gain. It's slow going but I've lost 4lb in 5 weeks. Try eating grapes instead of sweets. It works for me. :)
