You may want to do diaphram exercizes

Sorry answering so late.you talked of breathing better laying down. That's when the diaphram works best.now if you stand up,,put one hand gentle on your chest the other on your diaphragm. 2 good breath in thru nose.exhale with pursed lips count 4 .if you can do this.your diaphram is good .your hand on your chest needs to be still.no up s and downs or your doing it wrong,OK?

Your doing really well to be able to lie flat. I have to sleep proped up on wedge. Hope you get some answers as to what wrong soon. I had to wait for years and go all round the country before I got answers as to what wrong with me. Then it was my own GP who figured it out!

I have very severe emphysema and I find it easier lying flat. If I get a bit breathless I find I can get back to normal quite quickly if I lie flat.
