After surviving a very near miss on the M40 we arrived at Wembley with a few hours to spare, the pre booked parking went to plan and I got my daily exercise from walking up a thousand steps instead of queuing for the lift.
My daughter had talked to someone who said they would look out for someone wearing oxygen at the entrance gate. When I made myself known to the supervisor there he told me not to join the que which was very long and open to the 30 degree heat that was bearing down and to stand over in the shade. He then let me and my son in a side door just before the main rush was on. We made our way down to the entrance into the virtually empty main arena where we had the pick of the unreserved seats. We picked a great spot, I turned my oxygen right down and we soaked up the atmosphere.
The support band were quite good with a few good tunes but gave us no idea of what was coming after.
On the big screens some astronauts landed on the moon, they walked over to a crater where a red hot craft with AC/DC on the side flew out of it and headed for earth, the noise levels of this burning craft crackling and roaring towards earth shook the stadium beneath your feet, it passed Rosie and Hells bells on its way through the atmosphere and slammed into Wembley stadium with a massive explosion. AC/DC had arrived and it was hard hard Rocking from beginning until the end from then on.
There was a moment when I pinched myself just to make sure this was for real and I wasn't back in ICU having one of my mad but sometimes enjoyable crazy drug induced dreams, no thank god it was for real, I was having the time of my life 5 years after my family were being told I wasn't going to survive so thank you NHS I owe you all so much for getting me here.
My son and I Rocked and sang, at times I had tears of joy on my cheeks as I knew how lucky I was to still be here and having so much fun along with everyone in the full to the brim Wembley stadium, what a night it was and one which I have to rate as one of the greatest of my life.
The band ended with for those about to rock we salute you, there was smoke, lights and cannons firing, it was just amazing to watch and hopefully you'll get a little of that experience on my videos.
Get it on a big screen, Plug in to the Hi Fi and turn up the volume, its the only way to enjoy Hard Rocking.
After my post telling you all where I was going I had a lot more reply's than I expected, it seems I'm not alone in being an AC/DC fan here on Healthunlocked so I'm posting a few tunes for all you rockers here .

I severely doubted that I could manage to drive for 2 1/2 hours watch the gig and drive back another 2 1/2 hours arriving back home in the early hours but I did it so it seems as though we are capable of doing far more than we think possible when we really want it. I have allowed for a few rest days now to recover which is probably a very very good idea.

Well done Tony, that's great and I am so glad you had a rocking wonderful time. I remember seeing Pink Floyd at Wembley and it was magical too. Will never forget that to my dying day. What wonderful memories you have now for the rest of your life. x
Thanks cough, it was a major test and lucky for me I was having a very good day with my breathing. This year I seem better when its hot and boy was it hot It was 30 degrees My cough was better than normal and I wasn't producing gunk as much as usual so July 4th was a very good day.
These memories will keep me happy for some time to come with a grin from ear to ear to prove it. .
Thanks knitter, I write it as I feel it which seems to do the trick as for the near miss. A large 4x4 vehicle was overtaking everyone in the fast lane exeeding 100mph when the car in front of me pulled out in front of it. The 4x4 skidded up against the barrier with all its wheels locked, there was debris flying everywhere but somehow things kept going in the same direction and we all missed each other while braking and swerving. It was all caused by the sheer speed of that 4x4 driver who seemed to be rushing to join the next world whilst taking a few along with him.
Anyway I hope his repair bill will slow him down next time he gets on a motorway, idiot.
It could have ruined the day for quite a few people or worse but try as the driver did, it didn't ruin our day did it .
I used to travel the M40 everyday to work and home again it was a nightmare in the mornings it used to take up to 2hours to get to work on a 10 mile trip most morning it was at a stand still. Its the next worse road to the M25, so please I have moved away from there
Hi Joyce, I said to Matthew my son on the way there, who the heck would want to live down here. Couldn't imagine driving through all that traffic on a daily basis, once was enough for me and it'll take something very special to get me back again.
I was born in Hillingdon 3 miles from Heathrow lived there for 62 years used to go to Wembley now and again to see groups. Then COPD got me in 2007. Had to wait till last year when husband retired before being able to move away now in rural Norfolk life is much better for me health wise but have left my children and grand children behind. That the one thing that gets me down . So please you enjoyed last night. The last time I when to see Michael Bible only had to pay for my ticket as my carer goes free .
I almost thought I was there after your description and so glad you were able to enjoy one of the greatest rock bands of all time and I'm still jealous. 🎸🎸

'Rock and roll ain't noise pollution' and hopefully along with me it ain't gonna die. . I'm still buzzing and have watched my videos on the smart TV paired from my computer quite a few times now Ha Ha. Its so much better on the big screen with a bit of ooomfff behind it.
With luck they'll make a DVD of the tour and that will be Christmas sorted for me. .

Thanks Tina, Its only thanks to the insistence of my daughter that I even went. I thought it would be just a bit to much for me and she should go instead. She convinced me I could do it and phoned Wembley to make sure I would have some support once there.
The long drive there and back and the hours of waiting was a big ask for my poor old lungs and body but the will to want to do it was there and that's what counts it seems. Of coarse my wing lady was there to and that helps although it might scare a few people when they see me talking to her, Ha Ha.
I saw your Air products tanker on the way home, we passed it on the motorway and I thought of you straight away. I thought maybe you had popped in to Wembley for a few hours, it must carry just enough to last you that sort of time. Are you still on 15 liters or have you improved since then, I'm on 6-8 when walking up hills but can now drop to around 1-2 at a stand still so with careful adjustment I can make a cylinder last quite some time. It just lasted at Wembley from the time I left the car until I returned to it so I was lucky because I was tiring fast.
Rock and Roll adrenalin seems to be a short term cure for my condition, so give it a try, blow your hat off and annoy your neighbors a little at the same time. .
Thanks LeeLee, it was a truly amazing day and one I'll not forget in a hurry. I still feel a little tired now but it take a major effort on the day, well worth every ache and pain though.

Right up to a few days before Wembley I was telling myself I can't do it, it'll be way to much but when the time come my daughter didn't have to take my place, I was ready and running on adrenalin. Walking back to the car was a bit of a struggle but other than that I surprised myself and I'm so glad I did it.
Thanks Suzy I hope the chemo/cyclo is being kind to you, I used to tell them it would be easier to take if they put it in a more colourful drip bag instead of that horrible brown one. Is it still the same?
Sounds like you had a great day Tony (though bet you suffered for the next few days -But it was worth it I'm sure ) I did a similar thing in Feb watching England beat Wales at the Millennium Stadium and all the staff couldn't do enough for me ) It will be a day that sticks in your mind for ever . Though I couldn't have done it I am still jealous of your achievement. Will have a look at the links now

Your right there Sally, positive thinking got me to Wembley, even though deep down I thought I may have bitten off more than I could chew I gave it a go and was very very glad I did.
You have to suppress those negative thoughts, that way you can still get things done and maybe even surprise yourself a little too.

Hi Margaret, I had a brill time even though it was a long hard day, it was worth every huff and puff.
Your right about being up on my feet, once the music started I never sat down. All that walking paid off and gave me the strength to keep going but I realised on the way out I was very very near my limits.
My Birthday was an all together quieter affair luckily with a few of my family coming around for a barbicue.
AC/DC always finish with the same song and the canons going off, my husband saw them in 1985 and that's how they finish the night back then, he still takes about it now. its a good night out if you like that sort of music but you have to book the tickets so far in advance. Angus guitar solo is something else
Hi Joyce, Angus is still amazing and even though he's slowed a little his guitar playing is still up to speed.
I'll be like your husband and will be talking about this for years to come, tell him I know how he feels and it was a dream come true for me. I almost bottled it and sent my daughter as it was a major effort for me but I'm so glad I took a chance and went for it.
Sometimes you just have to throw caution to the wind eh'.
what I didn't say b4 was that he took my daughters with him ages 13 & 12 they were at the seats back of the area. they had a loads of bikers sitting or standing behind them, all drinking beer, I think the loo's must have been shut that night because they didn't use them they did it where they stood, my husband said he was turning round to say something until he saw the size of them he said they were big blokes built like brick s---houses so changed his mine and told the girls not to look

It seems I've found a cure for my lungs, its called rock and roll. For a while I forgot how ill I was, it was only walking out at the end that it all caught up. Even though it was downhill I had to slow to a snails pace and just made it to the car before my oxygen ran out.
I had a spare bottle waiting there so I was ok after sitting for a while so no problem driving the 2 1/2 hours back home.
I slept very well for some reason but my ears were ringing Ha Ha. Life is for living even if your only on 27% throttle and you can still have some fun eh' Peege xxx
My relatives missed it and we missed seeing them as his Dad had a stroke and he had to go straight to Newcastle. Came all the way from South Africa. Shame. Glad you had such a good time.
I hope the man is feeling better, that is a shame you missed it. my cousin went to see them in New Zealand they say you have to book 5 years in advance there
Jools has done a few gigs at Eastnor deer park only 5 miles from us. I've never been but I have listened from my dads. The wind was in the right direction and you could here everything even though the hills are in the way and its a few miles in a straight line. Love his shows on the TV as he has such a wide range of musical talent performing for us. I've seen Ruby Turner a favorite of Jools 20 odd years ago and she was great. x

Saw you 'keeping the faith' on fb having a great time at a Northern soul gig at Blackpool. Love that stuff myself and think some of the dancers are terrific with their amazing fitness and moves.
Thanks JS I had a great time with my son, were both AC/DC fans, we bought the tickets last Christmas so the one was my sons Xmas present and the other was my birthday present, they cost a small fortune but then the band may not be going much longer so it had to be done.

Trouble is Puff I feel 121 most days but at Wembley I felt 21 so its all in the mind ain't it. .
Yeh a couple of years back at the Eden project I saw Chase & Status and Labrinth. My son and daughter were in the mosh pit as they say, I was on the disabled platform with my wife.
The staff there were amazing, because its very steep getting out of there I was put in a wheel chair and they pushed me right back up to the car.
Motorhead were there this year when I was down that way on holiday, should have gone as I once saw them in Malvern about 38 years ago and it would have brought back a few Ace of Spades memories. .
