Hi

If you are under 65 typePIP in search box

If you are over 65 type AA in search box

You can also check for any other benefits you may be entitled to by using the benefits checker.

Hi Jimboye, welcome to the site, best to follow Stones link below. If you go to the disability site you will find all the info you need. There are even calculators for some benefits OK.

Hi good luck if your applying for pip. I can only walk about 18 metre s and I am. Waiting for a full lung transplant. I applied for pip 2 years ago. And was turned down. I appealed the decision. And again was turnd down evern after my consultant wrote to them telling them how server my condition is. I Am now awaiting a court date as I have taken it to tribunal. I hope you have better luck then me. And let me know how you get on please

Hi James i have said so many times people with lung problems should be awarded PIP without having to go through all this, this system does not work and needs changing. I saw on the news that people who no longer living in the UK are still being paid PIP, DLA and ESA it makes my blood boil so lets hope when they makes cuts they do so with these people

If you are at working age then you could apply for ESA and PIP. The new PIP rules state 20 metres walking without severe discomfort. I would advise you speak to CAB or Age UK if you are over 50. Most of the time it is the way you tell them of your conditions and affects that lose you the benefit. We tend to big ourselves up when talking to people we do not know and that loses points. I took a big long look at what I can and cannot do and also when I need to do these things. I was amazed how many aids I actually use for my day to day living that I have picked up over time. It was stated that I did not use a walking stick even though I supplied letters stating that a walking stick would be damaging to my compression fractures in my back as would a hand propelled wheel chair.

Be Well

I talked to the C.A.B. And they helped fill in the form.I made a diary of one day in my life ,how long everything took with a break to get my breathing back under control.I waited 8 months for interview but awarded enhanced rate for care and mobility,it was also back dated. They say waiting times have been cut so let us know how you get on.I have very severe emphysema Fev1 20%. Good luck.D.

Hello Biddy - I havent got any actual dates yet but am expecting to be reappraised this summer for ESA benefits and I would appreciate your advice on that and PIP (no dates yet for that either but it is likely to come as well I am quite sure of it). It is a constant source of anxiety for me and I cannot seem to get any help from local CAB offices or Age UK (I am 54) or any other disability organisations online. They don't like to get involved with ESA benefits cases. I just need advice on how to fill out the complex assessment form that will probably be sent to me this August (I was told that by the DWP) and then the actual face-to-face assessment if that follows the form assessment. Can I contact you? The last time I left a message about this subject no-one at BLF called me back. Thanks so much. stillmovin1
