HI Jan,

I am so sorry to hear your news, and hope others will be along to advise you better than I can. It will take a while for you to wrap your head around the diagnosis, and I hope you have plenty of support around you, and as cofdrop said, there is always someone on here to talk to. It might be an idea to talk to the specialist nurses on the helpline, as they can offer advice and send you information, or it can be downloaded.

As you say, keeping positive is key, but easy to say and not so easy to do. Laughter is often a good tonic too, so keep an eye on the humour section as a good laugh can often distract you for a while, and it makes you feel better.

There Is so much that can be done now, so I am sure they will have a good treatment plan in mind for you. Hope it goes well.

hugs from Huggs xxx :)

Here is a joke to start you off, but its not that good, but the best I could do just now.

"Daddy, where did I come from?" the seven-year-old asked.

It was a moment for which her parents had carefully prepared. They took her into the living room, got out the encyclopedia and several other books, and explained all they thought she should know about sexual attraction, affection, love, and reproductions. Then they both sat back and smiled contentedly.

"Does that answer your question?" her father asked.

"Not really," the little girl said. "Marcia said she came from Detroit. I want to know where I came from

So sorry to hear this Jan, as a cancer survivor myself (breast) I know how scary it can be to receive a diagnosis like this. Apart from sending you my good wishes and prayers, I can only advise you to visit the Macmillan website:

macmillan.org.uk/informatio...

might be a good place to begin.

Hi Jan, I was diagnosed on 30th March with Lung Cancer, Left Lung slow growing, Right Lung fast growing and had partially collapsed.

Two sessions (four lots chemo total) after first two had Xray which Consultant said was looking better. Second chemo session completed and Xray showed left lung no growth right lung had reinflated. Oxygen stats back to 96 to 98.

The Consultant was really pleased and decided two more sessions and on results of Xray or CTscan will decide what treatment is next.

I know how devastated you feel, I have been there, as many on here will confirm, having read my posts.

I have been down in the very bottom of despair. Picked myself up with the help of this forum and the wonderful people here.

I have stayed positive since I have picked myself up. Please try to stay positive if you can.

My lungs won't stand an operation but as the Consultant told me not cureable but treatable. I'm on palliative treatment not palliative care.

Stay in there fighting Jan and join me. We will fight this together.

Mind you my language at times makes my husband cringe. I hardly ever used to swear but lately I certainly do.

Love Suzyxxx
