A Question about Nebulisers.

I cannot use nebulisers containing saline solutions as it actually reduces my lung capacity by 25%. I have mild Emphysema & severe COPD. Has anyone used a water solution in a nebuliser? Our Doctors have not hear of this but the chemist has suggested it as an alternative. And if saline hinders my breathing what about the use of a salt lamp? Any one out there please have any advise?

Thanks jimmyg23. The nurse refuses to let me have a nebuliser and tells me that using the -inhaler with a spacer is just as efficient! I just wanted something to ease and help remove the enormous amount of mucus that makes my life so miserable. I have done two rehabs and I take mucadyne and use a Flutter but still suffer an on going battle with the Mucus.

I presume you mean the sterile water capsules as no other water can be used. I've used both saline and sterile water before but now just use saline.

Thanks CornishBrian--yes the sterile water capsules. The Doc knows nothing about it and I have tried for days to get through to Heavitree Physio to discuss but without success. If I cannot use saline how would my salt lamp be effecting me? And even walk by the sea?
