You are very ignorant to make such a statement. Many many sufferers from asthma, bronchietus and copd DID NOT smoke!!!

Agreed Mooskie and lot of suffers are kids so why would they not be innocent

So is it good or bad to take calcium as a supplement?

"Further tests revealed that asthmatics had far higher levels of the protein - called a calcium sensing receptor or CaSR - than healthy people.

When an asthmatic breathes in triggers such as dust, smoke, or pollen, the CaSR molecules cause the rapid increase of calcium within the cells of the lung tissue."

Well we live in hope. It would be good to see this happen.

Have a great day all.

Interesting. Roger posted an interesting link re a possible future cure for asthma which has something to do with the medication for osteoporosis - if I read it correctly. X

I saw this article a few days ago somewhere. I think they said the drug they used was Risedronate. It sounds really hopeful, especially for the Asthma sufferers.

Hi Graham

I totally agree with you. Many asthma suffers are deficient in vitamin D which is why I would always suggest people see their GPs before embarking on new regimes. It is a simple test to tell you if you need to be prescribed vitamin D or any other deficiencies.

Here are some new articles some might find interesting regarding taking vitamin supplements (taken from flibbertis post)

These days we can't do right for doing wrong.

But always seek medical advice before embarking on a new health regime - it makes sense.

Take care & hope Pat is still getting better
