I have severe emphesema and recently have felt as if something is stuck in my throat, doesn't stop me swallowing however really annoying as I can feel it there constantly and keep trying to shift it. I am on seretide and spiriva inhalers wondered if anything to do with these ? Any one else experienced this ? :)

My friend, who has not got copd has had this recently & it was due to acid reflux. She never burped acid up so thought it was a wrong dx, however after being on meds she is fantastic, her throat is clear and no feeling of something stuck, hope you can sort it soon,

Kay

what medication were you prescribed

My first thought is Reflux as well. Mucous can pool in the throat and cause that feeling of something bring stuck/ constant need to swallow. You can have gastric reflux without feeling any symptoms such as heartburn. Maybe you should check this out with your doctor.

This sounds like what is known as silent reflux, or laryngeal-pharyngeal reflux - this kind doesn't cause heartburn which people normally associate with GERD. Good its been diagnosed now and the acid can get aerosolised into the top of the lungs and cause mayhem. The sense of a lump in the throat fits with this. Definitely worth checking out. :)

Another thought is possibly thyroid, which can get nodules/lumps- usually benign but can be a nuisance. As peege says a trip to the docs may be in order.
