Now and then it seens that my inhalers, Spiriva and Ceretide don't deliver a dose. Ceritide I can feel the powdery sensation in my mouth, while Spiriva, despite shaking like mad will not show the cloud that escapes. I never know if I should try again, or if I actually inhaled enough. Has anyone else experienced this?

The Spiriva normally rattles when you inhale, the powder content is so small you would not expect a cloud.
Oh i know what you mean i not always certain if i have had the symbicot but the nurse said that because its so fine where as my eklira i can feel the tiny grains in my teeth....
I have to confess that if im unsure i have 1 more and im certainly not suggesting anyone else does that its just what i do x
I know when I have coz I am immediately breathing better and wheezing and coughing less! x
I hear you! At least once a week I experience a Spiriva "dud"! There is nothing in the capsule but I am afraid to take another dose in case I am wrong. I suppose the manufacturing machines do make mistakes, just like humans! 😡
yes stones right spiriva does rattle and i uaually get at least two in a box that dont work
Hi Polly, if you r able to speak with yr asthma nurse do, I feel you need help in understanding how to use yr inhalers. If not contact yr GP nurses and they will help. Take care Maximonkey

Hi Polly...I'm getting the impression that your inhaler is not the Spiriva that comes with the blue/green capsules but the other Spiriva (forget what it's called) that looks more like the usual inhalers we have. Might be wrong here but if this is the case then I couldn't get on with the latter after trying it and stick with Spiriva with the capsule and grey case x
Hallo Lovelight, mine is a Respimat, clear plastic base with a turquoise cap. You have to insert a capsule in the base and lock it. Can be fiddly gettting the base back on, the capsule delivers about 3 weeks of medication.
recommend using a spacer. much better delivery into the lungs, as opposed to swalling it, which is what i did!

Hello Polly, I too use Spiriva Respimat. Don't worry I never feel anything on my tongue. I think that is the purpose as my cons. changed me to it when I said about the gritty feeling on my tongue from Elkira. How ever in saying that when you set it up following instructions in the box, did you see the fine mist when you tried it facing it to the floor? If you did I would assume that it is working correctly. Sorry late with this post just found you on members near me. Best Wishes barnowl
P.S. Forgot to say I never ever shake the capsule. Should I ? Maybe I have read the instructions incorrectly. You are obviously doing everything correctly as you would not be able to press the button. Hope this helps barrow!
