Why? What would you be wanting to do in between Edam?! Any substance will start being absorbed by mucus membranes straightaway. That's why the French take much of their medicines up their bums :D

I alway gargle (more efficient than rinsing) after any inhaler, not just steroid ones as only about 10%-20% reaches the lungs - the rest get stuck in throat and mouth and why would you want your body/liver burdened by ANY medication which is not needed? Just saying'.

As I'm having problems with side effects I'm wondering if rinsing and gargling really quickly would help.

When I mean really quickly I mean having a inhaler in one hand and a glass of water in the other so I can rinse out before I can swallow.

That's the way I do it have you consulted you Dr about the side effects.

In my experience, I gargle with some warm salt water a couple minutes after using the inhaler.

Hi O2

Just got home. How are you?

Theres no reason, I wait a couple mins. Just the time it takes me to walk to the kitchen! Not good huh. It seems like I notice my heartburn after I use it .

I just have a qzar inhaler for inflamation. Don't even use it all the time. Guess I should.

Yes O2 its a steroid. I only use it if I notice I'm starting to get wheezy.Do you think I should use it daily?

So now your losing your voice? You just can't buy a break. But, at least your feeling better. Thats the important thing.

Love RUBYXX 😊

When I use the seretide straight away but I also gargle. Still lose my voice some days :)

What causes that do you think Offcut? Reason Im asking is that my voice has totally gone, i can only whisper. I thought it was a reflux thing as i have laryngeal pharyngeal reflux where the stuff reaches the voice box.

Its been getting worse the last 3 days, though not right before either and i don't know what to do about it. :(

They have always told me it is the seretide. I was told that it can cause thrush and also burn the skin which in turns makes the throat go tight which affects the voice.

What is in seretide? Im nebulising Atravent at present, quite a strong dose. I must look at the patient leaflet and see if voice loss could be a side effect of that.

Hi all. I'm on Seretide 250. 2 puffs twice a day. I was told to ALWAYS USE A SPACER. since I started doing so, throat problems are manageable. I also rinse.

Incidentally I was told to use one for my Ventolin. Apparently this makes it much more effective. Love Val
