Take a breathtaking walk with Dall to a favorite spot of mine.

The weather was better today and my lungs were in desperate need of some fresh air so I drove over to Dads and took a stroll to a spot I find has everything to help recharge my batteries. There is the sound of running water, birds singing, wild flowers, a ford, a pond and a picturesque bungalow on the edge of a wood looking out to views of the Malvern Hills. Yes its my little paradise and I'm going to try and share it with you all on my little Nokia windows phone camera. It worked quite well but it was uphill so I have to apologies now for the heavy breathing.

I think anyone who sounds that bad and is out walking in the country lanes alone needs their head looking at but then I've done it for a few years and I'm still here so why stop now eh'.

Geez Tony!!! Listening to your heavy breathing made me feel like I had to get up and jog about for 2 mins to join in! You are such a determined soul and I admire you for it. I saw the incline near the cottage and thought oh NO are you going to STOP for a breather..... What a pretty place. All those delicate flowers on the side of the road. Would there have been snow covering that area recently? Is that a roadway for vehicles? Is it narrow? I presume your dad doesn't live too far from you. Which part of the UK is this? Keep in mind my knowledge stems from Ëscape To The Country. I walk the beach 3 afternoons a week and the remainder I do laps around our paddock which is also lovely but in stark contrast. Very much like your country scene, babbling creek and greenery. I'll try for some pics of it this afternoon. Love your beautiful birdsong. It just transports us somewhere else huh. Thanks for sharing. Hugs Suz xx

I got to say it freaked me out a little when I heard myself breathing but that's how it is with me on hills and probably why I'm on the transplant list. :)

That narrow lane is for access to the bungalow only so its very quiet, an old lady lives alone there who also suffers with her breathing. Her lungs are good but a collapsing spine is resulting in her lungs being compressed. Shes often out in the garden though pottering and tinkering with things so I think if she can do it why cant I.

The area is the Herefordshire side of the Malvern Hills and Dad lives just down the road from this favorite spot of mine. Its all hills around here which is dam good exercise for someone like me but I do enjoy the walk back to Dads as its free wheeling down the hill all the way. :) .

We escaped the snow here in Malvern this year so far but other parts of the country were not so lucky.

Look forward to your pics from another world Suz.

Once you have been young in Sussex you have experienced the best and we can never forget it.

They can trace it in our bones even after we are dead :-D

Its such a lovely spot when the sun is shinning I thought its a shame to keep it all to my self. My little phone camera did quite a good job didn't it. The only problem was that noisy camera man huffing and puffing Ha Ha, he should sort that breathing out as I don't think he's very well. :)

Lovely Tony, what a lovely day. It inspires me for returning to Gloucestershire in 3 weeks. I'm was dreading it tbh & now you've reminded me there are other pleasures to come. P xx

I love that walk from my Dads, especially when the sun is shinning. I coughed and spluttered a little more than usual but it was my first walk for a while. My breathing was so much better today so I'm glad I did it.

Next it'll be the bike ride to Upton :) and a pint of course.

Well take my advice and hang fire on the cycling until it's warmer! 😀 😀

Glad your here to pull the reigns in Fran, I was getting carried away there but they are talking about some warmer weather in the not to far distant future.

I think I'm ready but colder air would make things more difficult so a few more weeks had better pass and then look out for a 2 wheeled post with pics.

such beautiful country is the Malverns Tony I have quite a few memories of them and you brought them back thank you very much, must say one thing there were quite a lot more birds in those days.

It seems the birds have taken a hammering everywhere, my dad blames farm sprays and chemicals. Two birds that used to be common around there were the Bull Finch and the Green Finch but we haven't seen any for some years now. Also we used to have Tawny Owls and Little Owls nesting in bird boxes Dad had placed around the orchard but they have also disappeared.

Its such a shame to see, hopefully this can be reversed now people are becoming more aware of the plight of our country's wildlife.

Glad you enjoyed my little video of a walk in the shadows of the Malverns ant, it came out well considering I used my phone camera didn't it. :)

I can't tell a Parrot from a budgie but 7 years ago I was living in Denmark and there are soo many birds there that it seems we have far fewer. Somewhere I still have a recording of bird song I captured whilst there - I'll try to find it and post it here

Maybe all our birds are going to Denmark for their holidays. :) and a budgie is just a Parrot that has shrunk in the wash.

Looking forward to some Danish bird chatter, I had better get an interpreter handy to translate yeh' :) .

I was watching Country life on Sunday Tony and yes it was the farming methods that have brought a decline in our wild life and bird life. But a majority of farmers are now recognizing this and have change their farming methods such as bringing back the hedgerow not farming right up to the edges of the fields and supplying extra feeding during the winter months. Things are looking up and one or two birds who thought were lost to time have started to make a comeback. :D

Loved the birdsong Tony. That little robin has made my day. I have one that comes into my garden and sings his little heart out. Enjoyed the strolls with you. Such a peaceful and pretty place and I notice there were plenty of flowers here and there. Also noticed you didn't meet any traffic. Bliss!

Thanks Tony. Hope you have a good day. Sara xxx

Glad you enjoyed walking with me Polly, its a shame you couldn't hear the birds and the trickling water but you didn't miss out on my heavy breathing, it sounded awful. :) .

What a wonderful place to walk. We have some places here that are nice to go. My Son and I got some fish and chips yesterday and drove to a beauty spot not far from here. We sat and just watched the moors and rolling hills. I was going to take some photos but it was too hazy. Maybe one day when it's clearer I will go back up there. Take care Tony. X
