Hi I got diagnosed on the 10th December 14 with PE's. I'm desperate to get back in to shape so can anyone help with what I could have a go at apart from walking or swimming?

Hi have you attended a PR (pulmumory rehab) group yet as they teach you exercises suitable for those with lung disease. You can also google these exercises. x

You really need to seek your medics advice to be safe or perhaps ring BLF tomorrow.

A good article on BLF's Facebook came up today mentioning exercise during and after lung illness.

Go to BLF website or you tube. Plenty of home based exercise to get you going.....even chair based. I also use a Wii machine...more fun. Ten pin bowling, tennis, fencing...all help. Be careful you don't over do it....as a general rule, work up until you get too breathless to talk and exercise at the same time...that is the time to take a break and recover.

Hi Kate, I go to aqua aerobics and I love it. Try a few classes until you find an instructor who gives you the exercises you like and enjoy, the sing along also raises the spirits. I have also made some good friends. I am not a strong swimmer so swimming alone would not be much help. Exercise in the water helps with my breathing and keeps me relatively fit. My lung capacity has improved so I must be doing something right. The only down side is I cannot use the communal showers as they are germ machines, so I dry off and go home and shower. The other spin off for me is it helps with any body pain I have due to arthritis. Good luck and hope you find an exercise that helps you soon. Maximonkey
