Lost my big brother today... its 04.30 and I can't sleep. He had copd for many years now, and at the age of 82 it was wearing him down.
I, my big brother, and my sister all have this desease, but he was the oldest, so was bound to go first... it had effected all his internal organs in one way or another, and I think the thought of having another go at the face mask/carbon monoxide treatment ( I don't exactly know what this treatment is called, but it sucks the monoxide out of your bloodstream I think) was just too much to bear. I think he had had enough.
He was "old school". East End raised, by a loving mum and dad, went thru the war as an evacuee( brought back promtly to the blitz when mum and dad found him and my sister being badly treated by the family they were posted to) but survived and flourished.
Married in the 50s and moved out to Basildon, where he raised a loving family, who spoilt him rotten... He had love by the bucketfull.. never too much money, aand always had to work hard for what he had, but his family was everything to him... and we will all miss him so much.
To all the people out there who suffer alone, for one reason or another, wether it be a long past slight, or some other silly reason, get in touch with YOUR family. When you have "moved on" it will be too late.

A thank you for that ,I supose nothing is more important than family,make effort if it's hard to get on ,this disease brought you all closer as you all have the understanding of each other ,I live near my family but have to stand my ground to what I need,whether they understand why I don't do some things or not.,as its me I have to look out for.very single minded. Anyway sorry to hear sad news,keep fighting.

How I agree, the Pap Mask is like an ancient torture device, My darling husband dreaded having to have it after he had it the first time, Sadly tho they are a vital for many people who have to use them to stay alive, Take care, Prayers and thoughts are with you and your family Bulpit

It was so lovely to read of your brothers life, and the warmth and love that he generated. I feel that you gave us a 'sense' of your brother with your words.
I too was born in London and lived through the war years there ( although I was only a baby) but the picture you painted rang very close to my heart
They say that you never die when you live on in the hearts of those that loved you, your brother will live on in many hearts.
With deepest condolences Sparkster to you and your family, at least your brother is at peace now no more suffering. You will be in my thoughts at this sad time x

What a trooper Sparkster, what a loss but what wonderful memories you and your sister must have of him. Your plea for those who have become separated from their families to reconnect and make up is moving too.
