I wonder what to do with the 100s of christmas cards on my mantel piece?

I'm back with a good old cough!

Ooh, rest that chest. Yes, the cards are too pretty to throw away...on the other hand, we can't just keep them every year can we....lol

It won't be over for me until Epiphany - I put such a lot into Christmas I'm happy to enjoy the full twelve days.

I always leave my decorations up until the 6th Jan too Dragonmum. I too make the most of that. Everything looks too pretty to take down straight after the main two days. I hope you enjoy your festivities. :-D

Jolyn, I love the days between Christmas and New Year, so relaxing - have a few satsumas and chocs in my "computer room", which is really a spare bedroom with attitude, and chomping on them as I type; have been having a joyous and blessed Christmas, I do all the preparations and catering then friends and family turn up and spoil me rotten with their lovely gifts. I miss all those who have gone ahead into the next place, especially my old darling husband and three dearest friends, but have felt them not too far away and I know they want me to not grieve too much for them, so I just enjoy the days. Classic FM is blasting away in the living room - they wring every ounce out the season too, bless them. I must confess to being very overjoyed with a special present - my son's girl-friend brought me something I've wanted since I was about seven years old. He's a wooden "nut-cracker Prince" just like the one in the ballet, which I will be watching on New Year's Eve - talk about having an "inner child"! They say if you haven't grown up by 50 there's no need to bother - so I won't! Happy days to us all and may the New Year bring us the strength to bear whatever we have to - God makes the back for the burden my Aunt used to say, so let's all have strong backs!

You have it all under control Dragonmum. It was a difficult one for me, as I lost my Husband earlier this year so it's still quite raw. Plus it would have been his birthday Christmas day....sigh. Maybe next year I'll be in a better frame of mind. :-)

It does get easier I promise you, but some daft little thing will tug at the memory strings and the tears come - grief is the price we pay for love, but it's a price well worth the paying. This year it must have been so hard for you - I think you're a very strong, courageous lady and I hope you can go forward into 2015 with all flags flying; one thing for sure, on bad days there's always someone on HU who is ready to share the burden and give you a boost.
