This is quite new to me, told about it from my sister in Australia where it is widely used.

I'm Astmatic who during the five months was having quite severe Asthma problems with constant coughing at night increased mucous and feeling quite breathless at times and shattered with constant loss of sleepat. My GP changed my inhalors three times ,not much improvement, then two lots of oral steroids one after the other.

They helped somewhat, but not dramatically.

Then I bought this Saline humidifier made in Innesfree ,Northern Ireland on line, direct from the manufacture in Nothern Ireland, that was after reading as much info, as I could find on various sites, including the manufacturers site, I followed other patients advice and put the humidifier in my bedroom turned on 1hour before going to bed then let it run all night ,truly from day 3 I slept most of the night without being woken by coughing

I'm pleased to say I sleep like a baby ever since just going into my 3rd month.

I would really recommend this humidifier to anyone who suffers from coughing at night or breathing difficulties associated with chest problems , it runs quietly can be set to full or part running. The cost of the humidifier is £135 with filter included the filter lasts up to 4 mths with continual nightly use replacements £35 but well worth every penny

The webb site can be found via Google , I used the manufacturer because they also sell the salt based filters with occaisional deals, also have a good they have a support line .

i get confused by an air cleaner and a humidifier ,, rubyred [on this forum ] has an air cleaner,,this rids dust mites pet dander etc,, i was getting one of these.

i thought a humidifier took the damp air out the room, but having a saline one,, i'm not sure how this would work , maybe i would be better checking it up as you say,, but if your getting benefit ,, why not :) glad its working for you junecov,,, jimmy xx :)

yes i see these ones you mean meg,, both humidifier and dehumidifier,, i understand that now

,,, i was looking at argos for an air cleaner,,which they have,, theres a post somewhere by " rubyred " with these. these seemingly take dust particles from the room, i,e pet dander, dust mites etc etc

during this cold weather up here, i have kerosene central heating [i live in a large static mobile home ]

i have my heating on a lot,, but i have these wee" hook on the radiators jugs" filled with water to stop the air drying out completely [or me drying out completely :D ] but seems to do the trick,,, ,, thanks for the links though meg will have another closer look,,,, jimmy xx :)

can you give a link or more info about the company in Ireland. I can't find the right salt humidifier. thanks

a humidifier would be no good to me, my house is very prone to condensation ,so i have two de humidifiers going in the winter months , most houses in my road have to use them ,they are all bungalows ,so that might have something to do with it

Hi Junecov,

What is a saline humidifier? I know the word saline refers to salt, so is it a salt humidifier? I have a de-humidifier at home, as I get a lot of condensation in my flat and it removes dampness from the air, and I also have an air purifier, as I have a dusty flat from living in a very polluted area. However, I am not sure about how a Saline humidifier works. Does it emit salt into the air?

Also, what size and model did you order and who are the manufacturers? I think it is reasonable to put those details onto the site as we all did that when I posted for details on what types of air purifiers/dehumidifiers to get.
