4 Year Old With Brittle Asthma

Good Morning.

My grandson has been diagnosed with brittle asthma. He has been admitted to He has been admitted in the hospital yet again for treatment. I was wondering because of how frequent the hospital visits are, many in the middle of the night. I was wondering if my grandson might be entitle to receiving DLA (not sure what it's called now. Poor little one can't walk very far when he is having an attack. He is a big boy for his age (not overweight) and too big to carry on buses and taxi's are expensive.

I just though I would put the question out there.

Kim it is certainly worth looking into - the girl I work with claimed a "carers allowance" for helping her daughter with severe ecezma and an allowance towards a washing machine! The BLF helpline maybe able to point you in the right direction. Good Luck xxx

Hi, poor boy. My granddaughter is 3, they won't 'diagnose' asthma but she has it for sure. My daughter is learning and had a few trips to A&E in the night.

I realise brittle asthma is different.

I would advise calling the BLF helpline. They have benefits advice and can give guidance on that and the brittle asthma too.

Hi it is called PIP now. His parents would have to claim it on his behalf. x

Hi Kim poor little lamb must be such a worry for you all.Im quite sure there is something that can be claimed but not sure what and how exactly sorry.As the others have said give the blf a call they will definitely be able to point you in the right direction.Goodluck to you all hope he gets well soon.Healing blessings to your grandson Janexx
