Hi Brooke,

I got one of those letters last week and didn't quite understand why? As I already had an appointment with

my GP that day, I took it with me and asked him about it.

He told me that this is one of the best moves that the Government have made in many years for people with chronic lung problems.

It's a list which the people named on it (like yourself) will have priority for hospitalisation over lesser cases and access to new treatments that are available. All of your health records will be listed with hospitals and heath organisations so any treatment that you need can be assessed quickly and accurately. Your GP and co-ordinator will work together and it will help them detect any change in your disease and to offer you the best treatment faster, should you need it.

Thanks Nikkers for explaining things. Know what to expect now.

Hello Nikkers, just read your response to Brook12. Do you know if this includes all stages of cope? Just wondering if I should expect a letter. I think I am around 50 but not sure. Best Wishes barnowl

Hi Barnowl,

To be honest, I've no idea, It just came out of the blue! Maybe it's just for poor old fogies like me? Lol. But if that's not correct I'm sure someone on here will know. How come you don't know how old you are?

Not sure if this is the same thing but I received a letter and a breakdown of all my ailments, dates, drugs, allergies, surgeries etc. I was requested to amend where I thought there was an error (and there were and I did). I was also asked to agree to only medical establishments having access to this info. I made enquiries to ensure this was not the care. stuff, which I had refused at the time! It is not - it is a government thing apparently where each surgery decide on the 2% most likely to have unplanned hospital admissions.

You have a named doc (which I already thought I had anyway) and I also now have a named nurse, which happens to be the one I really like who always supplies me with mc&s forms, pots and labels. She will now contact me every 3 months or so and I can 'phone her and just tell the reception I am one of the 2%. She feels I should have a matron but I don't at this stage and would prefer to still see her and she is fine with that - we can arrange that at a later date if we feel the need.
