Ah Top of the pops from the 70s, the poor miming, the Glam sparkly clothes, the high shoe's, the long hair, the flared trousers, the dodgy DJs, but out of this occasionally came a good tune.

I quite like this one, hope you do to. youtu.be/PIMSo2eLLP0

Its time for some morning exercise so this tune has got me started. onward and upwards Healthunlockeders eh'

Tony :)

The Strawbs were having some fun that day on top of the pops and it kind of rubs off when you watch and listen to it don't it jillygirl. :)

I was doing head rocking to it - great pick me up :)

That's good for the neck muscles eye's as long as your head stays on. Ha Ha. Music works for me and even helps me enjoy exercising. (sometimes)!! a bit of singing is also good for the lungs too but I make sure I am alone for that as its not fair on others. :)

in reply to dall05

I am hopeless at singing but love Iron Maiden and nobody notices if I get all the notes wrong and great head banging too :)

Just listened to it eyes and I like it, classic metal with its slow and fast sections. Maybe you could post a video of yourself singing it but 8 minutes could be a bit of a test for the lungs eh'.

Rock on eye's your a real 'Trooper' :)

in reply to dall05

glad you like :) :) and you never know - I might post me head banging and singing ......er but then maybe not lol

Keep rocking Tony. I'm more a 50's and 60's girl myself being ancient. Keep well and I hope you are still keeping your exercises regime ready for the big day. xx

Hi Tazzy2, your beginning to sound like my Mum. Ha Ha. I don't mind a bit of Big band myself though and Judy who! :)

Suzy6 profile image
Suzy6 in reply to Tazzy2

Hi Tazzy you would get on well with my husband he adores big bands. Judy Garland films. Me all and everything 40's 50's 60's.

My father made musical instruments before the war and did so for many of the dance bands and big bands of the day, Henry Hall, Ambrose and Roy Fox to name but a few. I was a late baby as they say.I am 49 but he would have been 100 this year, Mum was 40 when I was born. so was brought up listening to the music of the 30's, 40's and 50's.

Belong to the Judy Garland fan club and am going to a weekend convention in Beverley, Yorkshire, at the end of the month. amongst other things one of the talks/features is 'I Could Go On Singing’ – a 2013 50th anniversary tribute to Judy’s final and only British movie

Hi Tazzy yep same taste as my husband. He also likes German bands. Enjoy your Convention. Let me know how it goes. Oh Tazzy you are a spring chicken, my son is older than you. Go out there and enjoy yourself. I was born in the 40's.xx

Oh Tazzy2 how very strange - it's such a small world.

I grew up listening to mostly 30s music because my father was in the pre-war Roy Fox band! My main hobby now is trying to collect all the 78s he was on. :)

Dad taught himself the clarinet, what instrument did yours play?

Violin, sax and clarinet!

Thanks, small world as you say. Got some Roy Fox stuff recorded on our reel to reel tape recorder.

Played trumpet and cornet myself. Now content myself with the piano

qbjb in reply to Tazzy2

I used to play the piano but don't any more - never was much good!

Wouldn't playing trumpet or cornet be good for lung function?

I will rock till I drop Suzy, hey' us rockers have a lot to thank the 50s and 60s for, that's when it all started. Lucky for me I like all sorts of music and today has been a music day for me, what with the weather an all. xx

My son is the same 70's mad but has a very wide range of music he also loves. For a while he was even a punk. Thankfully he came out of that.

The Strawbs. Brings back memories. Thanks Dall.

One of my favourites was Hangman and the Papist.

Listen to the words as it's a good storyline.

You always play such great music when doing your exercises Dall....no wonder you are getting so much fitter

I fully expect when you get your new Lungs ( or perhaps lung) to see photo's of you rocking away on the dance floor

Your music seems to reflect your character......full of get up an go !!!

Love Sohara xx

dall05 profile image
dall05 in reply to Sohara

Yeh' Sohara get up and go 'SLOW'!!! but that's the way its is going to be until the new lungs come along. I'm ok with that because I know things could be a lot worse, 4 years ago I had a year that not many people could imagine so getting to where I am now is like winning the lottery.

My music has helped me through dark days and it seems singing along with it is good for us too so that's my excuse for the 'screeching' video . :) :) :).

When I get those lungs there wont be a dance floor big enough for me and I may even have a voice that stays in tune, with luck! xx

The 70s fashion was something else, those boots certainly weren't made for walking. Glad you enjoyed the tune sirjames and the walk down memory lane. :)
