Its a Monday morning thing for me now.

Once again I took my son to Worcester college so while I'm there I drop off to see the swans and do my weekly river walk thing. This time I sat for a while down at the weir, it was very noisy with the sound of the rushing water, there were some old guy's down at the waters edge Salmon fishing, the usual Heron on the far side fishing and right in front of me was a cormorant who was having greater success than the others as he caught and ate a fish in one big swallow right in front of me. I caught in on film but its not very clear but you may get a sense of the atmosphere and noise while I was sat there watching it all happen. plus.google.com/10152331535...

On my way back up the other side of the river I spotted a large Hornet flying low over the undergrowth between me and the river, I stood and watched him zooming up and down, hunting for something when I realised he wasn't alone. There were loads of them flying back and forth along the river bank and up into a nearby chestnut tree, it was a little creepy but I have heard them called the gentle giant so I kind of hoped there is some truth in that description and stood still and watched them for a while. Its sometime since I've seen hornets, especially so many together, not really sure what they were up to out in so many numbers but I was happy to leave them to it and get on my way just in case they are not as gentle as made out.

(I tried filming them but their too quick and small so it looks as though I've just video''d a chestnut tree :) )

The walk has tired me more than usual today but I put that down to having the flu jab on Saturday so its time for a rest.

Keep up the exercise Healthunlockeders and build up your strength for the on coming winter as its always a bit of a test for us isn't it, hopefully that flu jab will give me and you all a fighting chance yeh' .

Tony :)

Passed through Worcester myself on Friday. It was too busy to stop in. Think there was racing on.

A beautiful city. Is there still the China factory shop there?

What a beautiful photo. We have lots of geese and swans flying over every day now. they come to a local lake for winter.

Sounds an amazing place to me, your very lucky poemsgalore. I love seeing these great birds in flight and they can be quite vocal when flying in formation cant they.

When I used to play tennis only 4 years ago we used to get treated to Canada geese flying above, sometimes quite late and getting dark but you could certainly hear them.

the water is loud and it is a real treat to watch - thank you :)

It is very noisy but its a nice noise and a place where you can sit and watch the Heron and Cormorant fishing along side each other. If you time it when the Salmon are traveling upstream you can watch them struggling to get up and over the weir which is quite a spectacle.

I bet it is spectacular :)

Hi Jeanie, The flu jab is different every year, last years effected me quite bad with a high temperature and put me in bed for a day but other years have been not so bad. I'm ok today so this years jab only made me feel a little tired, achey and below par but its better than getting the full blown flu which can kill the likes of us with weak lungs.

Those storks must have been something to see and as you say it gives you that feel good factor, shame no video but I can picture it in my mind. Yes' Storks and blue sky terrific :) xx

That water's amazingly loud! And lovely picture too!

Jeanielee I had my flu jab last Wednesday and it's the first one in 4 years which didn't make me feel ill!

Hi Fern, will I be seeing a picture of you and your dog at the weir next :) after the hill photo. If your tempted this river walk is longer 2 1/2 miles but much easier with no hills and plenty to see on route, Foot bridges, cathedral, canal, weir, boats, wildlife Swans etc, Diglis hotel/pub for a drink/cake on route and its tarmac all the way so easy walking, just how we like it. :) x

Haha it's very tempting but sadly work is demanding my time currently but never say never!

I love to see your posts - still an inspiration! We had our flu jabs last week couldnt say we felt ill - just not right! Hope you are feeling fighting fit this morning. TAD xx

Thanks TAD, I'm ready for action again today after a good long sleep. The flu jab seemed to knock me a little but only for a day so I think It'll be over to Dads for this afternoon and a stroll up the lane again to see my friends the Hereford cows :) and what ever else is about. xx

Very picturesque Tony and love your descriptions of all the creatures you see along the way (no, not the fishermen!) Sounds as if you are doing well which is great. We all need to keep going if we can especially this time of year. I try and get Pete up and out when he feels like it but am a little down about his back at the moment. Hopefully a letter will arrive soon regarding his MRI scan but who knows? Take care xxxxx

Hi Sassy, I hope Pete gets his back sorted soon and with a bit of luck the MRI will help. I've just been reading a little about Sarcoidosis and see its similar to my condition in some ways, (anti jo-1 pos) which is an auto immune problem where the body's immune system attacks certain organs, mine being the lungs. I have to take prednisolone and Mycophenolate to suppress my immune system to stop my lungs being damaged further. I only have 27% lung function now so best avoid any more damage eh'. My lungs were damaged mostly in the first month when I first fell ill and have been fairly stable for 4 years since luckily.

Pete's a lucky man with you and the family looking after him, I read sarcoidosis can improve sometimes so lets hope his will but everyone is different.

Luckily my wife has been able to continue to work as I can manage to do most things at a steady pace now but there was a time when I needed someone there at all times, I know how Pete must feel having been in his position even if It was only for around 12 months.

Keep up the good work your doing Sass and I hope they can sort Pete out soon.

Tony x Oh yes I'm glad you enjoy my little walks and wildlife video's :)
