My new reclining chair arrived today, the man in Harvey's said it would have to be assembled and it would be pretty straight forward. Of course what he forgot to include was straight forward for a fit and able person. Something he and I forgot at the time of purchase, stupid me.
I was in a mess and that was just getting it out of the box and stripping the endless packaging away so I turned up my oxygen concentrator to its max of around 5 liters and sat down to try and break the secret code of how to make sense of the instructions.
I laid out all the nuts, bolts, washers, clips, and tools provided and checked all the parts were there, whew! they were so I got stuck in.
There was a whole lot of puffing, ranting and cursing going on, I was lying down, bending, lifting, pushing and shoving but eventually I had before me something that resembled the thing I had sat on in the Harvey's store a week before.
It was cheap enough but not if I included my labour charge's in blood sweat and tears.
As you can see in the pic I'm well set up now to do my healthunlocked posting in comfort so cheers to you all and unlike me think carefully before you purchase anything that comes in kit form.

Tony, I have the same chair that I got from Lloyds the chemists. Luckily I have a twenty year old in the house with motor mechanic training. Even he did a lot of swearing so well done you. Enjoy your rest.
I really do recommend a proper laptop cushion if you use it that way often. Formica type top with cup holder and a cushioned base. Dearer model comes with a built in fan and A A battery holder. Good for using in bed too. Regards Rib
I believe my cup holder would fit a can. Never tried. Mine came from JTF but have seen them in several laptop sizes. My wife borrows my 17" cushion for her 15" and uses space for a notelet pad. Rib
HI, dall05, you should have been able to get help from somewhere to sort that chair out. Husband and me are disabled for different reasons in the New Forest area. We get loads of help whenever.

I guess I could have got someone to build it up for me but I didn't want to be beaten so I gave it a go. I'm glad I did now but at the time I wasn't quite so sure.
Every time I post now you can picture where it came from, dall's chilling chair.
Get beaten dall, it is easier !.. really nice chair, mine came from recycle tip but I won't swap, will enjoy picturing where your very good posts come from now.
Sounds like yours was a lot cheaper than mine but you missed out on the fun of building it up didn't you, NOT!!!!

Hi, I want one , it looks so comfy I'm sick of slumming on the bed ( it's the only place that's comfy as I can't sit up straight ) but miss sitting with my family will defo look into getting one but some1 can fix it up for me and I can't drink so it will have to be a cuppa lol, stay chillaxed. Just read the reviews and there not great but all I can say is it feels and looks great at the moment. You cant please everyone all of the time and some others like me seem to like it.
It seems I am 43 years to old then so its no wonder I couldn't break the secret code of the instructions. Dam sales man should have told me there was an age limit on the purchase.
You do look comfy young Tony,congrats with conquering the building of it! I stopped getting anything from IKEA,to hard,with the thousand screws to sort out,lol.

All it took was a Birmingham screwdriver (Big Hammer) and I got it sorted. Ha Ha. Your right though I'll have to think again from now on when they say it needs assembling at home. Its very easy to forget what your capabilities are when your stood still in a shop and feeling ok, well it is if your me.
Having had a DVT and pulmonary embolism I really should no better than to sit with my legs crossed, once again my brain has let me down.
My 'child bride' is thinking of a new kitchen next but there's no way I'll be fitting that, I'll hand her the tools eh' and inspect from the comfort of my chilling chair.
Well Done Tony - I know the feeling when they delivered my massage chair as a partial flatpack. Like you I heaved and puffed, particulrly as the weight of the whole chair is such that it is immoveable to a COPDer. Stay well. Martin
It seems these things are sent to try us but as long as we pass the test were ok yeh'. You know what our problem is we don't want to give in and still try and carry on as we were before lung disease struck. I hope this is a good thing or are we just a sixpence short of a shilling.
YES MISS!!!, I'll get to it right away. I've cleared some rubbish in the garage and got my treadmill set up for when the weather starts to change. I'll only chillax in my chair once the exercise has been done ok. Ha Ha
Well done. About 15/20 years ago my mum bless her bought me the same type of chair. It was delivered on one of the hottest days of the year. I struggled for two hours before I called in the cavalry! On her motor bike she speeded her way to help her mother. And together the chair was completed in only another sweaty, blue languaged two hours!
But that chair is still going strong today. So after all the angst now enjoy your chair. (Nice colour, you look cool in it)
I was thinking of calling in international rescue but I couldn't remember thunderbirds number. Oh well, like you I'll be happy if I am still sitting in my chair for the next 20 years or more.
Funny en'it how once the job is done, the world returns to being a much more peaceful and tranquil place.

I've been chatting to Popplewell on the private messages but she changed her computer. I've sent her a message which I hope will go to her computer but haven't heard anything yet. So you see I'm still on the site and I keep my eye out for people I know.
Hi Mavis, good to see your still keeping an eye on us. Your right about the cats whiskers I'm lovin my new chair as you can see and while I am sitting in it my breathing is good to. Its a shame things arn't quite so good when on the move but you can't have everything can you.
I'm still suspended of the transplant list as the abscess I had removed from my bum has still not completely healed up and until it does the team won't take any chances. I'm ok with that as I'm ticking over fairly well at the moment. I see the transplant consultant on the 16th so with a bit of luck he'll give the nodd and I'll be back live on the list again. Its taken months to heal but my nurses keep telling me its looking better all the time and should soon be completely healed.
I am still walking but not pushing myself quite so hard at the moment as my lung condition has flared a little and they have had to up my steroid dose for a short while.
I'm off out now for a little stroll around the estate but I will soon return to my new chair for the evening TV.
I hope Popplewell gets back on line soon, it always takes a while to get used to a new computer

Hi Tony. I get good and bad days. It's always going to be like that though.
I had an accident while I was on holiday with my Son Daughter in fact I had two. The first I ripped my arm in the lift while on our cruise. The second I ripped my leg on my Granddaughters pushchair. For the second I was blue lighted in Italy. What I am getting to is that after six weeks my leg has still not healed completely and is still quite red. It's ok though. Just taking a while to heal. I think when you are a little older it does take longer.
I'm glad they haven't put you off completly from having your transplant. You will soon be up and running. I hope you enjoyed your walk. I suppose you are now sitting pretty in your new chair. I bought a recliner for Mike and he loved it.

I'm off on another Cruise with my Son Daughter in Law and Granddaughter in a couple of weeks. We go from Bristol which should be interesting.

Hi Mavis, the walk went better than expected and I got to the top of my estate in less than 20 mins so it seems the higher dose of prednisolone the Doc ordered is working.
You go careful on that cruise or they will want to change your name to Frank Spencer (some mothers do have em')

I've been home alone tonight as my wife and daughter are in Manchester and my son is staying at his girlfriends. I've quite enjoyed the house and 'chair' to myself but I'll be pleased when their all back tomorrow evening.
Errr!!! Got to totally agree Tony, Nin ( aka Anna) & me (aka Azaard) decide we needed a dining table with storage for folding chairs and not expensive, yep!! as you have probably guessed, it had to be an Argos special, like you, I set all the gubbins out, then attempted to decipher the usual discombobulated destructions, no problem says I, HAHA!!! I wish, all bleeding night and half a crate of fosters later its all up and sorted NOT!!!!!,
It just didn't look quite right, the gap on one side of the drop leaves was bigger than the other, So me thinking Ok! toooo! much Fosters, left it till the morning, re-deciphered the destructions and low and behold it wasn't the fosters, I got three left legs not two. So it was a simple case of, drill it, plug it, swap it round and jobs a gudun, the moral is beer, flat packs and me don't mix,

Your right there Dmactds building that seat was an exercise routine in itself and probably done more good than harm. My soul did feel good once I could chillax on it
Ha well done Tony. The last time I bought a flat pack it was from Argos to make a shoe stand. It was just planks of wood. I cannot understand flat pack instructions and my brain gives up long before my body does. I couldn't even put together a computer table without help So well done to you. I hope you have many years enjoyment in your comfy recliner. x
It was a case of 'Build it and comfort will come' Ha Ha. Well like 'field of dreams, kevin Costner' I built it and comfort has arrived in the dall05 house.
