Hi Hannah21, A very warm welcome to the site. You will find the members friendly caring and compassionate. You will probably learn a lot, as I did. as there are so many people with various lung conditions which they are all very knowledgeable about. To answer your question, the only other Australian I know of is Wendells. She is on the site regularly. If you click on members on the blue bar, there is a search box which says find a member. Just type in Wendells or Martin 1945 and their avatar will appear, and then you click on to it.

Sorry, I have had to edit my first reply as I forgot to tell you about the search box etc. I am sure you will have worked it out anyway. hugs xx

hello huggs!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome and quick reply. :) I'm really looking forward to meeting others that I'm able to discuss these types of things with. Very happy I found this site!

Hi Huggs, I'm in the UK but joined this site after the huge help I received from the Australian Lung Foundation as they and not the UK site had information about Pink Disease that I had as a baby and my mum said the cure came from Australia. My mum had to sign a paper at our local Children's Hospital to use the cure. My mums relative, who lived in Australia, arranged all the details. Pink Disease caused mercury poisoning which in turn caused bronchiactosis (sorry, never could spell it) but was eradicated in the middle 1950's Unfortunately I was born March 1950. My GP's have never heard of it but I have found one other person on this site that Australian professors were on the ball and saved our lives. So as an Australian, my best wishes go out to you and I hope this site helps you as the Australian site has helped me. Because of the Australian Lung Foundation, I now know and understand my ailments from Pink Disease whereas for 64 years, I have known nothing.

Hi Hannah and Martin and welcome to the site. As you have seen we are a very friendly bunch who help and support each other with our lung diseases. Did you get compensation for Pink's disease lovinggrandmother? If not you should have. x

Good to hear from new people, and just to say there is an amazing programme on bbc tv here at the moment called Coast Australia...this week they showed Sydney Harbour...it's history and ecology. Was it Sorry Day in Australia recently...what happens?

in reply to knitter

Hi knitter, just saw your post,& realised no one answered! The sorry day,was an apology from the Goverment etc,for the Aboriginal people, that had there babies & children taken away from them, some years ago,& they had no rights etc,to claim them back. They were adopted,or sent to farms etc.to work quite a story actually.

Have you ever seen the film 'The rabbit proof fence'? Get a copy if you can, that explains a lot, although it is very sad.Cheers Wendells xxx

Welcome to the site! As you see, there's quite a few hidden or not so hidden Australian talents on this site. One of my brother-in-law lives in Perth, while my other bro-in law, lives in New Zealand. But I live in Kent, which isn't so bad either! Good climate to nurse my old bronchiectasis! Hope you find us of help. cheers, Mic. (not Dundee!!!)

It certainly has tvernstrom, in some ways exciting, helpful and great to know we can share our joys and problems together but in other ways I sometimes think it is scary. xx
