Not heard this, I was told that air in London would not have an adverse affect on lung conditions, I moved to the City of London last year the air was not an issue for me and I double checked with my specialist before the move.. Then I did not like it there so promptly moved back to the Cotswolds.... Air quality was never an issue for me.. Good luck finding your answers.

Cor - lucky you!, I was visiting friends in North London, when that huge amount of Sand etc landed on thousands of cars , having blown over, we are told, from EGYPT ! - so, did as the Media advised to anyone with Breathing problems - AND STAYED IN DOORS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS , then tottered out and took the car to a cleaning place to get the sand off .Ah, the Cotswolds - don;t blame you moving back - nice place - anymore of this "Lawrence of Arabia " stuff, and I might follow you !! - good luck to you too ..

Well, anybody who did not hear of the extremely poor air quality affecting large parts of the country a few weeks ago, must be living in a bubble. It had a specific meterelogical cause, which has long since passed. That is not to say it could not happen again.

There was so much advice given as to how to respond to the situation, dependant on your health, I don't know how to answer your question and why you are asking now. Put simply, if you have a chronic lung condition, it was best not to go out during that period. Even healthy people were advised not to exercise in the 'smog'.

I have masks in car now in case it happens again. Affected me badly driving to London through polluted fog ... think it started current rotten exacerbation..been worse since.

I was in Coventry and it was not good there. I only went out once with the wife shopping. I struggled getting to the trolleys and then all I did was go down the middle aisle and the wife went up and down to get the stuff. I did not venture out at all until it improved/blew away.

Pretend it is all caused by cigarette smoking it helps politicians and doctors ignore lung disease.

I was prompted to go and buy a hepa air filter which worked well when I stayed indoors. I now use it everyday in my bedroom and turn it off at night as there is a lot of building work going on in my part of London and it definitely reduses the dust.

I spent a couple of days in London in 2012. I felt the difference in air quality as soon as I got off the train. My use of Ventolin went up from a couple of times a day to seven or eight times a day, and stayed like that until I was prescribed Seretide two months later . . .

Hi Yelena.

The air where I live in South London was slighty hazy all day (it seemed more so in the mornings) and the cars were pink each morning with the sand dust.

My grandson, who washed his car each day had a pink covering on his each morning. (It is his first car and is treated like the rarest orchid!)

My breathing worsened for several days and the foam filter on my oxygen concertrator was much dustier than usual.
