Tread Mill Test.

I was at the Hospital today, my doctor sent me for a mini MOT.

Today I was on the tread mill test hooked up to wires ect.

The tread mill teat was to last 20mns, OMG I thought I was fit.

I thought it would be a walk in the park, slow speed-faster then faster then steeper.

I had to stop at 10mns, lower legs were KILLING me, a bit out of breath, only to be expected but my god the leg pain got to me.

Monday I;m getting a heart trace then I'm finished with docs and hospitals lol.

I wouldn't give up on the exercise if I were you David.

I suffer just trying to cross the room. If I had been more sensible my life would have been better than it is.

We always learn the right things in life but the damage is already done before we are prepared to take action, so get back on that old treadmill and give us some mileage.

I second eightyplus above. In fact, the treadmill is crucial to your health. If you've got the space, you can get a second hand one for under £100. A pair of 1kg hand weights for some upper body exercise and you take responsibility for your health again.

or you could just go for a little daily walk, chat to a few neighbours & enjoy watching spring pop through .....

Every time I get on a treadmill or a cycling machine the numbskull DJ play's that Talking Heads song .....

Give me my electric bike, a 12-mile trek up a canal towpath with a pub half way .... & I'm happy as a sandboy & nicely exercised.

& when it rains I'm up & down the stairs for as long as I can do it.

in reply to out-for-lunch

have you got an electric bike out-for-lunch? Been thinking of getting one. Are they worth it? And any problems with them? Thanks. x

best thing I've ever done - it's brilliant, it cost a fair bit, but really boosts me up & makes me feel & look like a normal human being when I'm out & about on it. Mines a fold-up one so slips in the boot of the car or in the camper-van locker dead easy. They're not toys ..... mine does 20-25 miles & tackles hills steeper than I would've cycled up as a teenager.. We have 2 the same. I use electric but Sue pedals as normal & only uses electric for hills ..... just in case my battery fails, then I can jump on her bike, knowing it'll have enough charge to get me home. It's never happened, but if it did, it'd save calling the air ambulance.

Just make sure you get one with the right spec. After a lot of research & asking around, this one seemed the best all-rounder for the money. Every time I get on it I can't stop smiling like a cheshire cat - it makes me really happy to be out & about like a normal human being.

folding-bikes.net/asbikes/ ........ ours are the electrobike Mk3 - & the after-sales service from these guys is brilliant - they're up near Coventry.

Hi David years ago they wanted to check my heart was working properly as I kept getting pains in my chest. ( I think it was a combination of the poor breathing, panic attack and muscle spasms) but they said I would not manage a walking tread mill test so they gave me an angiagram! I think I would have preferred the tread mill although it was quite interesting watching the camera going into my heart. Best wishes Irene

Hi after reading these comments I actually went on my treadmill today 1st time since I have been poorly, just managed 4 minutes but that was better than I expected, just got to remember to do it again tomorrow.

I walk past it many times in a day but only remember to go on it when I am in bed.
